He’s the only one in midfield who has anything about him. The problem is, he is a top 6 player. If your best midfielder is a top 6 player, you have a problem. The garbage we are serving up is not his fault at all.

Disappointed he didn't try to drive forward more and take shots on goal, to hell with this control bullshit.

He's played for inter Milan, Real madrid and chelsea(before their capitulation) he's never been simply a "top 6 player"

He's top quality. Has repeatedly shown it all season, largely single handedly holding the entire midfield together.

He's poor imo, looks brilliant compared to the current crop which is worrying as fuck.

Not winning the league or champions league with Kovacic in the starting XI.

I go back to the 2022/23 starting midfield, that's the level we need to get to. He's not a patch on Rodri, Gundogan or De Bruyne that season.

I can’t decide whether he should get another year with us, he’s been very good at driving forward but I’m not sure on another season.
If Pep isn't even going to bother playing Nico G, Kova might as well stay another season.

Cash in whilst his stock is high in my opinion.

Bring in 2 new younger midfielders, MGW and a new #10.

Rodri, MGW, #10
Nico G, Gundo, Foden, Bernardo.

Should be enough depth.

Not gonna get much for him though are we really, maybe get him to stick around I dunno mate, can’t make my mind up

We're all allowed opinions of course but I think that's a pretty awful one.

Despite it being his first season and getting the customary slow introduction he still featured 30 times for us last season, we won the league then, we were knocked out of the CL on pens and had we progressed would have been strong favourites to retain it and we all remember the fa cup final shitshow, we really wasn't far off the treble standard last season with him.involved.

This season he's stepped up, held things together single handedly and we wouldn't be even close to top 4/5 without him. With rodri back or possibly Nico settling in to play the 6 and kovacic back in his natural 8 role, I expect another very good season from him next year. He's miles away from being a concern imo.

With regards to last season, one of the issues in the CL was that he was a big downgrade on Gundo the season before, if he wasn't a budget buy we wouldn't have bought him imo.

I agree that he has been one of the reasons we're still in the top 5 race but that's more of a reflection on the rest of our midfield at the moment.
I'm not disputing that though, he's good enough for a top 5 team which is what we are. He isn't good enough for a title winning team.

This season is an anomaly for goalscoring in his career, he's 31 years old, isn't going to get any better and will have decent sell on value at the moment. Now is the time to cash in imo.

All top clubs but he’s been the same at them all…good not great. I like him but he doesn’t get in our best side and yet all of a sudden he is our best midfielder. He isn’t the problem but that scenario is.
