Incredibly negative footballer, whose first thought is to pass the ball sideways or backwards

When we won the treble, if you said that in 2 years time, we'd start an FA cup QF and then a Derby with Kovacic and Gundogan as the two central midfielders, I'd have had some serious concerns
Don't understand this view at all. Of all our central midfielders, he's the one who will look for a forward pass first more often than any other. Can question the quality of the balls, the decision to try it etc amongst many other things but he's one who will actually try and play a forward pass. He tries balls over the top. He tries to play slide rule balls down the sides for haaland.

Get your point mate but not really. He would take a touch and pass it to a better player. This div starts dribbling in his own half as if he is Messi

The problem with him is that, even at Chelsea, he rarely scores or assists. And he can't tackle. He's not without ability but ultimately he's often a bit of a nothing player.

Fucks me off that as teams break beyond him he makes minimal effort to recover and his defensive awareness is on par with Stevie Wonders.

Kova had a bad game but one can still see he is the only midfielder who can receive and control the ball and distribute well. There is no much outlets to pass to or make incisive pass in this game. Silva is only able to do things at wide right wing didn’t transit the ball meaningfully. Gundo was not seen the whole match and could not keep the ball flowing. Kevin is more proactive but also very wasteful. Foden was similar to Gundo, could not control the ball and basically absent from the game. Nobody can perform with these midfield teammates.

Are you his wife or mum? You defend him week after week and he’s garbage week to week. Think you’re his fan not a city fan. Those midfielders have credit in the bank they’re legends at the club. Our slide as a team began when we started signing second rate talent like Kovacic who was warming Chelsea’s bench

Unfortunately over half of the starting 11 is like this

Easy mate. This is my second post in three weeks and the other post is not about Kova at all. I gave my opinion with some reasoning and some observations of the match in discussion, instead of simply claiming anyone is great or garbage. There are quite a few people in almost every thread saying same things repeatedly like someone is gash daily if not hourly and seems it doesn’t bother you.

All big clubs develop second tier players into great players bar Real Madrid. Saleh was not top player when Liverpool bought him and the rest of that team. Arsenal has been collecting second tier players. Man city didn’t buy KDB or Rodri or Gundo as top players.

And Kova was not bench player at Chelsea. Show me evidence he was a bench player or if you want I can show you data that he was a starter at Chelsea.

Kovacic isn’t getting developed at 30. Chelsea bought 3 new cm Lavia enzo caciedo. Tells you how they rated him. And he was not a regular starter for them. Nor was he an influence for them when he did start. He scored a great goal for them against Liverpool. Since he’s been our team we’ve been poor.

Finally starts as an 8 with a DM next to him and he looked good, 6 goals this season which is better than everyone bar Haaland, Marmoush and Foden, his problem though is consistency, he can look good one week and than shite the next one but maybe playing with Nico can help him, unless of course Pep decides to just drop him next week and play Silva instead.

Poor in the first 20inutes I thought. After that good. And very good second half.

Not his biggest fan but he was breaking lines with his dribbling and passing. Seems a lot better when deployed with a Rodri/Nico.
