Need Beranrdo to leave too and KDB and Nunes and probably Grealish I accept Kovacic could stay if Gundogan goes, but Gundogan is more likely to stay.

Did well today but I don’t think we should be playing him against this Villa team on Tuesday. Akanji needs to play RB in that
 
He's a tricky one because I don't think his overall play has lived up to our better midfielders of the last 15 years, not even close. But he's become a goal threat here which I'm incredibly grateful for - especially since he wasn't really one at all for most of his career.
 
7 goals this season now. His best ever return and playing as the six for almost all of it. Brilliant numbers. Perhaps embarrassingly for others in the squad he's now our joint third top scorer this season.

The only central midfielder to have shown up for us this season and we'd be miles off CL places without him.

Timely that I was literally discussing his goal threat in the pre match thread when the teams were announced.

True but we knew that when we bought him.

He’s been on a hiding to nothing this season. He’s a good player but trying to replace the best in the world is an impossible task. Some bash him because he isn’t as good as Rodri. I think he’s done about as well as could be expected

I think there's such a marked difference with Kovacic when he plays with a DM and when he doesn't. He's elite at what he's good at and horrible at what he's not if that makes sense hence the huge variance you get from him. With proper stability he's a good player to have.
 
Did far better than I expected as a 6, one of his better performances in that role.
 
Good performance. Thought he chased shadows a bit but hard to know if that was all his own making or not. Good on the ball
 
Sad to say it but out of gundogan, bernardo, KDB and himself he is best candidate to keep around next year in my eyes. More sad because it will be sad to these players go. Though bernardo in midfield was good today
