I was saying in general a player, not in the role he performed today which probably won’t be how we most see him in our shirt
I think he'll surprise a lot of people in our team

That Chelsea midfield was a shambles for years, chopping and changing every week, so anyone judging him on that form is in for a shock

I'd hazard a guess that Pep knows exactly what he's bought

I thought Alexis Mac was the closest thing on the market to Gundo, but genuinely, watching Kova the last couple of games he looks a very worthy replacement. Excited by this, just wish he was a couple of years younger.
Peak years I’d wager; the pirlo’s, modric of this world mature like fine wine, even Gundo I’d attach to this; players with intelligence, who certainly don’t rely on pace, are gifted a brain that still sees them miles ahead of their peers;; to see the game in blind spots, takes a certain gift, and the pedigree was already there…. It’s always going to be around fitness on this one, however, we invariably manage this brilliantly in recent years… we should be very excited and it’s a bonafide steal at the price paid!

Like in every sector of business football thrives on change. Not change for change sake but change to improve.
Pep is always changing his team formations and asking players to change positions.
Little wonder some players have taken a season to adjust and some simply cannot adjust.
In this player we have all things that Pep admires but he will carry his skills with him
And simply play wherever and be a safe haven for all who find change difficult.
I like him because he blends the team wherever he is in fact a super professional.

His ability/trait to burst past the first press is going to be so important. Rather than being caught on the ball/having his pass blocked he’ll negate all of that by the sudden burst past.

Given KDB relies on explosiveness too, I think Kovacic’s press resistance will lead to even quicker transitions. Which is only good news for Kev and Haaland.

It was a cheap and relatively risk free buy. I assume he was picked for his experience knowing the likelihood that Gundogan would go

His defending skills are the best among our midfielders except Rodri. Defending is not all about working hard. Prediction. Position sense. Physicality. He has all. Actually he reminds me a bit of early year Fernandinho in defense. Just hope he keep fit and healthy.
