The best thing for me is for an older international player who has played in world cups, Euros and Champions League finals he seems to be loving and relishing every second in our shirt.

It's not a coincidence. We have a fantastic record when Kovačić plays significant minutes next to Rodri (the rightmost column is Kovačić's minutes). The only game in which both of them played huge minutes, and we did not win, was Arsenal at home. Look at the goal difference wow
He's not Gundogan replacement though - that's Nunes. Mateo is what Kalvin should've been.

He's getting better and whilst he's not a direct goal threat he's been much more attacking in terms of his passing and general positioning which is making a difference. The ball in behind for Haaland to run onto for example, which led to the second penalty. We're a better team with him on the pitch and he's intelligent enough to develop and improve his role in the side. I don't think he's ever going to score bucket loads, but as long as there is some attacking output, or Rodri contributes more (which he has this season) then overall we're good.

Exceptional once more. The team plays football when Kovacic plays. Undroppable. Taking him off today instead of Rodri shows how important he's been. He will get the recognition he deserves next season.
