He came on and made several interceptions, 2 in the box in a row, made a run and a shot that was blocked.

Why did he play so low and to the left mostly, well I doubt Pep patted him on the back and said Good Luck. I assume he got some instructions from coaches.

Kovacic has fantastic potential, but never reached the top, so he is a good player, never a superstar.

That said, I don't remember when he scored a penalty last time, misses them all the time for Croatia. And I knew as soon as he stepped up that he will miss it. I have no idea why he went 2nd or at all, I can only presume no one else wanted to or he said I can take it. Which is complete bull**, he is one of the worst penalty takers.

Same as Modric, one of the best midfielders ever, shoots shittiest penalties, always on edge to miss.

And before you keep slandering Kovacic, he at least tried to shoot to side, unlike Bernardo.

Apart from Kyle, Kovacic is the least dangerous player in front of goal in the whole squad. No idea why he was picked for the pens, should be the 10th man for a pen. Really like him, but apart from his 1 annual screamer he doesn’t know how to score goals
