He turned 19 a few months ago. He will obviously get stronger as he gets older. Anyway, if only Kai Havertz was a bit bigger and not spindly he might have proven useful in the Champions League for Chelsea....

I still think he'll end up as a right winger as he basically just *is* Mahrez when he's out there, but I quite like Pep's insistence on playing him as a midfielder right now. Must be good for his development. I can assume the thought process is that he doesn't need to learn how to beat people and score goals from the right, cos he's already good at that, but what he does need to learn is the physicality of this game and how to affect the game in a more considered way. Sorta like the reverse approach for Foden I guess where he was a midfielder, but they put him out on the wing to grow a bit and learn to affect the game in his own way, before hopefully now bringing that confidence back into midfield.

Interesting how some players learn pep ball out wide to end up in the middle and others learn in the middle to end up out wide.

Worth remembering that Foden's early performances were nervy and safe too.

agreed. someone less confident would have surly just played it safe to Riyad there as he was on a brace.

Don't think it really matters tbh. He's been at City for absolutely ages and if he stays even longer, well there is no way he won't love this club dearly, if he doesn't already. You'd be hard pressed to say Carragher isn't a Liverpool fan for example, despite everyone knowing he was an Evertonian as a kid.

Excellent cameo last night, obviously got a bright future ahead of him. Like Foden he will be eased in gradually and the Carabou Cup is his best chance of getting regular game time imo. Really looking forward to seeing how Cole gets on.
