France Joli - Te ovlvidare (gonna get over you)

France Joli - Feel like dancing

France is a bit of a guilty pleasure as far as I'm concerned. In hindsight, she probably peaked at "gonna get over you". Brilliantly jazzy piano break always picks my ears. Her later stuff went more hi nrg and pales in comparison to the first two/three albums. Prelude label as well, another personal fave.

Very valid points raised n totally agree, compare n contrasting some of her works does at times leave one to think she were a tad conflicted in her own capabilities n potential, to a degree.

Cracking smooth singing voice to boot.

"One step away" was 70s so doesn't qualify. Toss up between it and "loveline" as my fave Tavares track. Always lifts my mood when it comes on, great shout. Ever heard Victor Tavares' "show me" on Malaco?
I have indeed, though i confess to not really rating it anywhere near the levels of 'Loveline' or 'Got to find my way back to you' ...i think a track like 'Show me' would have been much better served up if performed by the like of Phil Fearon n Galaxy, personal opinion as i also very much liked the sound of Phil/Galaxy.

I bought it blind so to speak, recognising the label ( Trans Lux, Baiser, Carol Hahn) and took a punt. Didn't twig the Tavares connection and stashed it on the shelf after a few spins. Sounds a bit better as years have gone by, but it had stiff competition back then. We were spoilt or what?
Yeah, you may have a point on the Phil Fearon sound. "I can prove it" cover was my fave. Once again though, loads of UK competion at the time. Great being young in those days.

She was only 16 when " come to me" broke and struggled to cope with the pressure. Was pushed too hard and lost confidence. Unidisc did a bright pink remix last year so I can honestly say I've stood by her. Guilty pleasure.
