Rico must be held highly in Pep’s regard.

At 17 Foden made 5 Prem appearances, 10 appearances in the entire season.
And Palmer didn’t make any until he was 18.

He was class in the EDS game, yesterday. We do have a top prospect on our hands.

I don't like to needlessly compare academy players but I don't think I'm putting Wilson-Esbrand down when I say that Lewis looks like he's the better prospect.

From the glimpses I've seen, he really seems to have something about him.
I said the same watching him in the Friendlies in America. He was the calmest of all the young lads. Played confidently within himself and never seemed frazzled by the moment.

I have heard over the years many players described as too small. Be wary, little men have a low centre of gravity and often turn out to be excellent. That Messi bloke hasn’t done too bad. I don’t think Lewis will make a CB but otherwise he may be one of those little men like Sweep who turn out great.
Long Shot: Midfielder in the middle, what us FOBs know as an inside forward?
Dani Alvez and Jordi Alba are small but are two of the finest full backs of recent times

Incredible for the lad to play infront of a packed stadium. But as I’ve said before though I don’t see how he could ever replace a quality right back like Kyle Walker.

At 17, Kyle was at Sheffield United and hadn't played a single professional game. He only played 7 times for England u19s and another 7 times for England u21s.

When Kyle was 17, I don't think anyone would have expected him to have had the career he's had. He wasn't a surefire future star anyway.

Rico's represented England u16s and u18s so far. He's probably ahead of where Kyle was at this stage. Obviously a long way to go, but he's got a chance.

Ever..? Obv not at the moment and I don't think anyone is suggesting that right now. Strange why you think anyone is.

He is 17 ffs. Give the lad a chance before you write his prospects off

Promising kid and the club obviously thinks a lot of him to be involving him with the first team squad and giving him minutes in friendlies.

An awful lot can happen between 17 and a player's prime. Being good at this age is no guarantee of the level he'll reach later.

But signs are good, and that's all we can ask. He looks like what he is - a talented teenager with a long way to go.

I would agree with this. A very smart, tactically aware, intelligent footballer. Good pace, if not lighting quick. Obviously absolutely loads of developing to do, but nights like the one he's just had are how you learn...

He made a few mistakes, as you'd expect, but I really liked his composure on the ball and willingness to received pressure in possession. He looks custom built to play that inverted role.
