told you his intelligence in movement, his positioning and physical stature reminds me of lahm.

Quite the turnaround...

he is a right back for the academy team. but form what he has shown I don't think he will be a defender. Think he will move to become a winger in the men's team.

he should be played as a winger. as a fullback he will be like playing a kid against grown men.

sorry Lewis was nowhere near impressive. good footwork is not good enough, I thought every thing else about his game were poor.

Shout out to @Dax777 for seeing Rico's quality straight away and Pol Ballus for drawing the Lahm comparison months ago.

agree. but the turnaround came when pep decided to use him in the midfield. he is suited to the role. but I would still like to see how he will defend in a traditional full back role. maybe walker can teach him some tricks of the trade.

It is rare for Pep to be so fulsome in his praise for a young player, and to play him as often. I hope that he has now cemented his place as a genuine competitor to Kyle for the RB berth.

I don't know mate. I'm sure he can pass some things on but speed and physicality is such a huge part of Walker's game and there's no way he can share that.

Rico's defensive game is going to be dictated by aggression at the right times and overall shrewdness and he's shown plenty of both so far.

I reckon all he needs is experience and the time needed to be able to learn from mistakes but he fits us like a glove. Realistically, he'll probably carry on covering both positions for the foreseeable future.

He doesn't seem to lack aggression and although a bit on the short side for a defender, I think he will prove to be a physical strong player when he is fully matured - not that he looks weak now.

Given the maturity and football intelligence he has demonstrated so far, and that has got Pep gushing, I would hope he will prove to be a very clever defender.

Showing maturity way beyond his age and he has already proved in the games he has played that he deserves his place in the team. I had a few concerns because of his size he might be bullied off the ball by experienced PL players, but that is certainly not the case. Will be interesting to see if he starts against the Rags as he will be up against the pace of Rashford, however he kept up with Salah who is no slouch, although Rashford is faster than Salah. Brilliant to see another one of our academy lads in the first team.

If Pep plays him in our next game against United, then he is officially the first choice RB.
