It's an option but we probably need Stones in that back line. He's the best centre-back we have by far.
It would work exactly how it did for City. So you'd have Walker there to create more of a back 3 when in possession and Stones and Rice would rotate the way he does with Rodri in terms of positions to manipulate the opposition. Off the ball Stones would then either stay in midfield to press, or drop into the back 4 to get the shape back.
It's completely beyond Southgate to try that sort of thing though.
