Which was my point, and my point still stands I don't believe he will be good enough to get a near permanent start.

Nowhere near the level of Phil at the same age and now.
There are different skills. If you mean ball skills there are few players that have that level of skill.Haaland for instance certainly doesn't.
However if you mean positional awareness and intelligent ball use in a tight midfield, I believe he certainly has the skills.
There aren't to many 18 year olds who have been given MOTM in a champions league game in midfield.
Only time will tell, personally I'm very optimistic about his prospects.

I genuinely hope he succeeds mate, and I mean that.

He's getting a lot more game time than Phil was at the same age.

He also has similar issues - being bounced off the ball too easily is a clear one, but it took Phil till he'd turned 20 before he really got the strength to hold opponents off.

Pep obviously rates Lewis higher than Foden at the same age. His minutes show that.

Pep never picks youth in midfield. You have to be almost perfect to get a spot as a 6 or 8 in his teams, yet Rico is trusted more in there now than Foden is.

Foden as a free attacker is superb though and this post wasn’t intended to diss him.

The team Foden was trying to break into was FAR deeper than that which Rico is. I also think Pep is far more lenient with chances for young players now that he's won the lot and most things twice over.

I disagree. Foden’s lack of pausa has stopped him being a Pep central midfielder. He says it quite often. Foden is like a bird etc.

Foden had to rotate with Sané and Sterling.

That’s not to say Pep (and me) don’t rate Foden extremely highly, it’s just highlighting why Rico plays in central midfield and Foden didn’t at 18.

MAIL : The kid with the hair

Rico Lewis, 18, is the Thai-boxing City wonderkid 'with the hair' who still lives at home with his mum - and his grandad played bass for Oasis...

Good article. I have little doubt he'll make it here and be an important player for us.

"The 10-minute cameo that night will live long in the memory. He was assured on the ball, making a couple of tackles, and then waltzed past two players into Bayern’s box before crashing the post from right back.

In the posh seats, there were glances. Who is this kid? They know now. The lad with the hair. His feet aren’t bad either."
