82 | Rico Lewis - 2024/25

I agree with you. He is not good enough defensively and nothing special offensively.
If so.. how do you think he is a good footballer?

He is average on his best. Zinchenko/ delph kind of a player, not beyond that. We need players like that in the squad, nothing wrong with that. But it's time people stopped thinking he is Walker's heir. Walker at his peak is one of the best in history at his position. Rico won't get a tenth of that. He is not the solution
I mean he's pretty comfortable with the ball in tight situations. A good footballer by 'definition,' but I agree with you wholeheartedly he's never a Walker replacement.

Nope.. you and Pep it seems.
Pep wasted 5 years on Mendy and continued playing him till 2021/2022 season, till police arrested him.

So that doesn't prove any point, yep he can also waste 5 years on Rico, but what's the reality ? He looks like 5 years old kid, playing with professionals.

Zinchenko was nearly his age in 18/19, even in 17/18 and played at a very high level compared to this, but I don't remember posters here defending Zinchenko or asking for some time.

With Zinchenko it was easier. He had skills that were visible. Like excellent first touch, ability to deliver long balls, very comfortable dribbling, short passes as well, etc.

What's Rico good at ?
Defends well ? no
Attacks well ? no
Contributes in midfield well ? no

Just ask yourselves, would he be picked as a starter or even a regular player by any PL team (and please name the position where they would play him :D) ? The answer is no.

PS Some people here have some kind of unrealistic / illusionary world built. I remember I was posting realistic evaluation of Sterling back in 19/20 and stating that he wasn't the player to be our n1 attacker and got banned because of these people :D. A year after that he became like bench player and 2 years later he was sold. Now no one remembers who the fuck Raheem Sterling is, even those posters here, who were defending him like only Raheem's mother would defend him. Same happens to Rico here, mark my words, in 1 or 2 seasons he will be playing for Championship team.

Well, the main difference was Alba could fly past people on the overlap due to his lightning pace. Not sure at what age you’re hoping to see that happen with Rico
What the fuck is an overlapping fullback ? never heard of it.

Thanks for the essay mate.. but I think you misinterpreted my post. I wholeheartedly agree with your reasons.. I was implying only the poster and Pep mistakenly see something in Rico which isn’t there. Look at my posts on the Rico performance thread and you will see I’m not his biggest fan ;)

Add Garcia to that. Pep kept playing him because he was good at passing out from the back(even in a champions league quarter final). When it was pretty obvious he’d never make a top centre half as long as he had a hole in his arse.

Pep is great as we all know but people use him for an argument to defend a player as if he never gets anything wrong

No I just replied on your post, I perfectly understood what you meant :D

Yep Pep's the issue and sometimes he does things like that, sometimes doesn't.
Like he played Mendy for 5 years and Phillips didn't even got a chance, but reality was that they both were disaster from the beginning and it's a mystery how Mendy kept going when his every appearance was like a God's punishment :D

Rico is a player that can be used when team is playing very well. Cause you have Rodri who covers everything and gives a luxury to worry less about defence as he cuts all the counters and attacks before they even reach our defenders, but in this situation, Rico shouldn't be playing this kind of matches. We are starting with -1 man and that bites us in the last 30 minutes.

Replacing Rodri is possible, when you have 11 above average players on all the positions and they do their job excellently. Otherwise we won't keep our level and that's what's happening right now. We are loosing and loosing.

This new CB kid as well. Great talent maybe, but right now playing him is a suicide. Today we played with 9-9.5 men against very difficult opponent and away game also. What was Pep thinking about ?

PS Yep Garcia also. And Pep played him against Lyon :D
