82 | Rico Lewis - 2024/25

For those who are happy criticising Rico, the swap from right back to left back is one key reason he gets picked.
You read some comments about him on here and wonder whether we’re watching the same player.
I have reached the conclusion that no matter how good he performs, these set of fans will always criticise him.
It’s like they want him to fail badly.
But what they won’t say was his role in the first goal and his defensive performance today.
Hi Rico’s Dad.
Ive never done it before but a look at your posting history and you have an unnatural affinity with Rico’s performance and how he is never responsible for us conceding a goal.
Take your Rico tinted glasses off and watch the game again. The poor lad is suffering from overplaying and his confidence is shot to pieces. He is half the player he was when he burst onto the scene. I sincerely hope he comes good but you cannot defend the indefensible.
Just out of interest, and this isn’t the correct thread, but how do you think James McAtee did, a player you claim will never be good enough for us, but whom many of us wanted to be given a chance?
I for one, would much prefer James to be see a little more game time and Rico taken out of the firing line for a period of time. Hopefully both can come good.

Before the swap, everything from Leicester came down their left. After the swap, it all came down their right. There’s no point being able to play right back and left back, if you’re no good at either. Teams are targeting him and why wouldn’t they? We would be delighted if one of wingers were up against him.

He played his part in the 1st goal and he put in a decent defensive header against Vardy at the end. Other than that, I thought it was another car-crash from him. If Pep is to continue with a full back, moving into the centre, it needs to be someone of a completely different standard to Rico.

Nobody at the back is ripping up trees but I would like to think that the likes of Akanji and Gvardiol are just in a poor run of form and will at some point get back to their level. Whereas I just don’t believe that Ricos level, is our level.

James and Rico DO NOT play the same position.
It seems like many of the people attacking Rico are not aware of this.
Also, I can’t be bothered but if I check your posting history, it’s very likely that I will find your posts attacking Lewis whether justified or not.
James came on today and did a good job. If he keeps that performance going, the manager will have no choice but to play him.
Calling someone Rico’s dad is childish. Grow up.
I want fans to be objective in their criticism of any player. Jumping on the bandwagon really annoys me especially when it’s not justified.

I don't really understand the intensity of the criticism of Rico. I don't think it is deserved, in most games, and he remains, in my eyes, a top-class prospect. I remember when people were clamouring for him to be given Walker's spot, and now we have a rough patch he is one of one or two that are singled out for special attention. I've always had a view that we support our own, and stick with them. We can offer constructive criticism, which is balanced, but we also offer young players our patient backing, especially those who have been at the club throughout the whole of their development.

He’s just not ready to play every game for us. He needs a few years to grow into himself. If it wasn’t for the injury crisis he wouldn’t be playing every week and he’d be given the chance to grow but the squad isn’t in that position.
I think that is a fair point, and also true for a lot of players who are playing nearly every minute because of the lack of depth in our squad due to fitness and illness issues.

He is never a defender. For me it’s midfield or nothing. Works hard though. Can’t knock that.
He can't play midfield though, he played a good over the top pass for Kev today but in general he sees nothing ahead of him & he isn't strong enough to play midfield, I'd honestly say he's better suited to right back.
