He's not a ball winner
He's not a creator
He's not one to cover counter attacks
He's not a goal threat
He's doesn't dictate games

Yet he plays in positions in which being good at at least a couple of these would be massively beneficial to the team. So more a case of not really doing anything right rather than wrong all the time
He’s 5’4 but not even fit or quick. Strangest footballer ever

Fair point, but who else can play? We had 4 senior defenders fit tonight, and they played in a back4
Literally, anyone. Play Nunes there. Go back three and play Savinho/Doku/Bernardo as a wing-back. Anything.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. It's inexcusable that Pep continues to put Walker out there when he's cost us for two seasons now.

Agree with you.

This forum acts like this situation is unique. No almost every team especially teams in the middle of the table have situations like this often. You don't have enough numbers of fit defenders to play the ideal shape then u just twist the shape trying to get a result.

Someone else said it, but the fact that Pep was criticized in past seasons for changing things too much when we were winning, but now, when we can't stop losing, he's sticking to the same setup is baffling and hard to wrap your head around.

Just back from my office Christmas party and watching the replay. Jesus Christ.

This boy is sooo bad. It’s a joke he even got through the academy. Call me harsh but…

Not only stick to the same set up.

The only game we won we ditched the reverted fullback bullshit and put Gundo Grealish double 8/6.

Then he could not help to play Rico reverted again and again lost one drew one now.

In the 2nd half he should take Rico off but nope he just moved Doku Grealish and Bernado around thinking it the problem with the wingers not the problem at the base!

You can very clearly see the lack of confidence in his defending that the rest of the team have in him. They all know he needs constant back up because if you leave him 1v1 to defend he's toast. That's a big problem for whoever plays inside of him.

Who played in the game we won? Akanji and Ake

Who was injured for tonight's game? Akanji and Ake

Do you see the problem here?

He's done well in the past for a young lad but that's when he had other players around him that can guide and protect him through a game.

Now he's at the point where he has to stand on his own two feet and it looks like he's not going to cut it.

I'm not really sure what his strengths are. Sometimes he's pretty good at neat play in tight spaces in the final third. Apart from that, he hasn't got an awful lot going for him, certainly not the kind of attributes required at CM or full back.

More than happy to be proven wrong but he doesn't look like he's progressing at all.

Maybe it's harsh because he's not the only one not playing well but you can only call it as you see it. If I was an opposition player and had been watching City for the past two months and saw him in the starting lineup, I'd fancy my chances winning that battle.

It’s very harsh. He’s been taught a certain way to play all his life and that system isn’t working now but I still think he’s a decent player. He just looks bad because of the form of the whole team but people don’t want to point fingers at the legends we have, understandably.

It would be interesting if City get a result VS Utd on the weekend.
We will beat Utd, you heard it here first. Just like we beat Forrest. Play 4 CBs instead and we will win. There is a reason why that was the one game we won. It was the only game in weeks/months where Rico was benched.

A lot of those legends are finished it’s as simple as that.Rico unfortunately is extremely limited and will never be an elite player at the level we’ve been at. Reminds me of a few rag kids over the years who got in their team young and got hyped up. A few England caps follow and then they get a move to an Everton type team after a couple of years before drifting further down the football ladder.

I wouldn’t say “extremely” limited, I think he has a good attitude, gets into good spaces and has shown some nice skills. Of course when the team is struggling you notice the poor stuff much more.

I just don’t think targeting a young player is the right thing to do at the moment.

Personally I don’t much rate Savinho but I accept he’s young and still learning. Lewis is only just ahead of him in terms of experience.

Who are these 4 CBs you tlak about because Stones/Ake and even Akanji can't keep themselves fit?
