I wouldn’t say “extremely” limited, I think he has a good attitude, gets into good spaces and has shown some nice skills. Of course when the team is struggling you notice the poor stuff much more.

I just don’t think targeting a young player is the right thing to do at the moment.

Personally I don’t much rate Savinho but I accept he’s young and still learning. Lewis is only just ahead of him in terms of experience.
He’s technically very good and has a great attitude i’ll give him that. I call him very limited though in terms of his chances of nailing down a regular position in a top 4 side. He’s limited in any of the 3/4 positions he can play. Pace, range of passing, physicality etc. He’s neat and tidy but gets brushed of the ball very easily. Being fair so does Foden at times but then look at what he can actually do with the ball!

I think Savinho will come good but time will tell. He certainly has much more natural ability to become good in his position. Rico won’t ever make a top fullback or number 8.

I see him a bit like how Gundogan used to be. Maybe with a bit more energy but not as clever if you see what I mean. Keeps the ball ticking over in MF and occasionally gets forward. Not sure what his ceiling will be at the moment though. Will never be a fullback as you say.

We will beat Utd, you heard it here first. Just like we beat Forrest. Play 4 CBs instead and we will win. There is a reason why that was the one game we won. It was the only game in weeks/months where Rico was benched.
We can't, because three of them are inured.

Ffs, why don't people understand that?

We lose four, people look around for scapegoats. Rico's a convenient one. One of the brightest prospects for the coming years. I believe he needs to find his true position on the pitch, and not drift between one and the other — but that's a short-term consideration. (I don't know the player on the planet who can be both a convincing full-back defensively, and a convincing midfielder. Oh, and get regularly into the box, just for good measure.)
It would be disgraceful if we lost him. Worse than losing Palmer. By a long way. I would be gutted.

100% agreed mate. He needs looking after. He’s a kid being thrown to the wolves.

Walker is fair game but I’m not having people bullying Rico.

Appreciate that comment, mate. Since I've just posted a post that pretty critical of the lad (in the post-match Juventus thread) I'd like to reiterate my firm conviction that he shouldn't be singled out by people who are saying that everything, or 90%, or 80%, is on him. I see absolutely nobody, with the possible exception of Rúben, who is playing well at the back at present. And that includes our keeper. And there's not much in midfield. And up front, too much is being placed on Erling.
So in fact there isn't much going on in the entire team that you can give credit for! And that's been the case since the Tottenham League Cup game, and maybe well before it.
Nah, it's the hangover season that we were all bracing ourselves for after the treble. It was delayed by one season, but it's here, loud and clear.

If you were to write a list of our problems at the moment, you’d run out of paper and ink long before you got to Rico Lewis.

I know he scored vs palace, but generally think he’s pretty useless in advanced positions particularly when it comes to passing. Think he is a bad space eater as well, inadvertently closing off avenues for other players. I feel bad for him but he looks limited as hell this year and think he has a very slim chance of surviving the rebuild. Unless pep just loves the guy Bernardo style

You also thought Palmer would never make it at the top level though and he’s now got 38 goals and assists in 2024, 8 more than the next player (Salah) and 10 more than Haaland and Saka (3rd and 4th).

If i said that i honestly don’t remember. Must admit by the time we sold him i thought it was decent money. For a couple of years before i thought he’d be a star for us as the natural talent was obvious. After his injury in the subsequent year he seemed to regress but maybe that was due to lack of game time and being on the left wing a bit when he started.

I’ve never seen the natural talent in Rico to become a star in our team and he never will be.

Trying to figure out what he did wrong tonight to get so much stick?

He's the new boo boy. Along with Walker.

He's a kid, playing more games than he normally would and in positions he normally wouldn't play because 3 of our defenders are injured and Rodri is out for the season.

Those giving him abuse, saying he's a pub league player, he should fuck off, etc, should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

Lewis is 20 years old and has played 50 competitive games for City before this season. He has also played for England.
You make it sound like he's a 17-year-old who just made his debut.
