very young and learning each game. he will have to play through all these mistakes. same as all top rightbacks when they were at similar age. not his fault our squad planning was absymal and we have Walker who is now a total wreck in his personal life also bit past his best as alternative.

He’s been caught out of position, and in the process, hasn’t defended the crossed ball or the player running through a few times this season. Opposition teams are definitely targeting him and his side of the pitch.

He keeps getting labelled a RB, whether that is by us fans or by media showing him in the lineup as RB. From the positions he takes up in matches there is no way you could call him a RB, asking any RB from any great sides even those who played as RWB would not recognise Rico as a RB.

He can’t be judged as a RB of any type, but it would be helpful if Pep could explain exactly what position he has asked Rico to play. When Walker plays he doesn’t take up those positions remotely at all.

We have to assume Rico is following the plan asked of him by Pep as Pep continues to play him and this unusual role in the team. Effectively leaving 3 defenders one of whom Gvardiol who for the vast majority of his time here has been playing LB. Leaves us totally exposed.

Pep clearly loves him.. whilst I am far from convinced. Pep knows about a million times what I know about football so I’ll leave it to his good judgement, but for me his lack of strength and athleticism is apparent and every time the ball falls to him in the business end of the field it breaks down, so I’m struggling to see what Pep is seeing.

Bet I look like a right mug in 18 months time and hope that I do!

He sees the pass, he makes the right runs.

But unfortunately he isn’t good enough with all the other attributes he needs.

Once Pep goes he won’t be a regular for us.

Needs to do so much more in the final third if he's allowed to be in those areas. He's always just looking to pass to someone else. Take a shot, try and beat your man...mix it up! Otherwise there's no point him being in those positions because it leaves us so exposed at the back. There doesn't seem to be any plan to cover the space he leaves when he pushes up the pitch.

I'm not scapegoating him, because he's clearly been told to get into those areas but I think we need to go back to basics and play a flat back 4 to make sure we're more balanced.

nowhere near good enough yet to be a consistent first teamer in my opinion. plays too many important games. good on the turn, good with progressive passes, getting forward but he makes too many mistakes for this level. His end product is pretty poor to say he arrives in the box for important final phase roles frequently. He got caught out few times last night which should have been punished. Love the kid and will improve but atm he shouldn’t be starting when players like rodri are out.

Going from the best defensive rb in world football to rico Lewis as the rb is a huge downgrade. We need a proper replacement for walker.

If he wasn’t from the academy fans wouldn’t rate him. He is too small to be a cm and lacks any pace/defensive nous to be a rb.

Foden is very quick and has unbelievable skill/balance he was lucky enough to be born with.

Lewis in comparison is bang average

First 6 games this season he was having shots regularly admittedly wild over the bar or wide. But since then he looks as likely as Diaz to score. Still think he's been one of our most consistent players this season
