Not a defender. That much was clear about 12 months ago.

Could really do with growing a couple more inches and filling out a bit - look at what it did for Foden - but that's about all. It'll come, I think Pep just needs to give up on the idea that he's a defender. If we had more options at the back currently he wouldn't be played there.

He'll be a good squad player for us going forward but as a box-to-box/eight type. Very good with the ball in tight areas, magnificent when it comes to finding space in the midfield, definitely has an eye for goal when he does get in dangerous spots.

By the end of this season he'll (I predict) have the same amount of senior goals for City as Cole Palmer did at the same age. When he's been played in midfield and been allowed to get into scoring positions he's found the net at a decent rate imo. It's only being played across the back constantly that's preventing him for upping his tally imo.

Interesting, well 3 in 67 appearances said by Chris above. I haven’t the will to work out his rate for just when he’s played in defence vs our other defenders, but bearing in my the way we play, with him coming into midfield from defence and how much of the time our whole team is up the field, my perception is that his rate is awful. To my eyes he seems to lack composure, confidence and ability when in goal scoring positions. If you think different, fair enough.

Yep Pep's the issue and sometimes he does things like that, sometimes doesn't.
Like he played Mendy for 5 years and Phillips didn't even got a chance, but reality was that they both were disaster from the beginning and it's a mystery how Mendy kept going when his every appearance was like a God's punishment :D

Rico is a player that can be used when team is playing very well. Cause you have Rodri who covers everything and gives a luxury to worry less about defence as he cuts all the counters and attacks before they even reach our defenders, but in this situation, Rico shouldn't be playing this kind of matches. We are starting with -1 man and that bites us in the last 30 minutes.

Replacing Rodri is possible, when you have 11 above average players on all the positions and they do their job excellently. Otherwise we won't keep our level and that's what's happening right now. We are loosing and loosing.

This new CB kid as well. Great talent maybe, but right now playing him is a suicide. Today we played with 9-9.5 men against very difficult opponent and away game also. What was Pep thinking about ?

PS Yep Garcia also. And Pep played him against Lyon :D

I really like Rico but I’m not sure it’s working tactically.

Can’t play AM in possesion and then be expected to cover back to full-back. Recipe for disaster. He’s obviously being exploited aswell.

I don’t see him as a full-back personally.

I think we will be at our best when we return to a defence of: Gvardiol , Ake , Dias , Akanji , Stones with one of them inverting.

Walker isn’t good enough and Lewis isn’t either imo.

He’s been great. Personally feel we would be better returning to 4CB’s at the back as it’s costing us on transitions.

Midfield is not performing at the minute, he is part of that. It's unfair to ask him to do more at the moment. He is playing decently in a poor midfield. Hopefully he is learning quickly. We need all the help we can get.
