I didn't notice him much after the goal which I mentioned in the match day thread(god there is some nutters in there :-)) so I purposely paid him more attention. Oddly that midfield of him kova and Silva was nicely balanced against this team, lad did very well.

What a great moment to see a local lad and academy graduate score for City at Wembley. Hopefully the people on here who think that, despite being trusted by one of the best football managers of all time in big games, he is actually one of the worst players in the league managed to enjoy it too.
You're an absolute whopper and ignored.

*EDIT* Sorry about that, I misread it as a dig, in my defence, I had had a few.

Faded a bit in the 2nd half as the game became more transitional. In that scenario I'd like to see him try and grab and regain control a bit more. His great strengths are moving into the space, creating angles and that, but when we can't find him he becomes a bit anonymous. But that'll come with experience.

The goal was the obvious highlight, but in the first half he was superb generally, directing the play. I was watching his movements and how he was organising those around him. The way he was wanting to play was like how we played at our absolute peak under Pep, it's obvious that he gets it and why Pep likes him so much.
You can tell he understands the system and decisions as well as anyone. He tells senior players including Dias where to go and what angle to take. Dias found him 2 with line breaking passes in the first half

He's an impression young man. Captain material

Like I've said a dozen times, his future is as a box-to-box type midfielder.

Very clever with the ball, developing more of an eye for goal, getting better at arriving in dangerous places.

I said earlier this season and I'll say it again, he's already on 80-ish appearances for City and I'm excited to see what his next 80-ish games look like.

The transitional is down to players losing possession, Rico never did, he was superb today & was unfairly targeted in our troubled times.

He took his goal well. With the younger lads there form is going to go in and out that's when the senior players generally get around them and show them the way. He will have a very good future. Looking at the squad to have him Foden O Reilly about is a no brainer. We also have Bobb and McAtee there to think about what we do with them next year. Decisions for Pep big time.

In the early part of this season Rico was our standout player , so intelligent, making the team tick from inverted right back position

Then the wheels came off our season and we were constantly trying to defend transitions with the team running back towards our own goal. Rico can’t play right back in this scenario

Guardiola alluded to it in his post match comments

“He moves really well in the small spaces; when we play not good like this season, it’s not necessary but when we play really good, control and drop the opponents in the final third - it’s really important to have players who can move in small spaces”

For some reason , so called city fans have taken it upon themselves to get on his back , a 20 year old kid who is a boyhood blue no less

Yesterday showed us what he can do in his natural position, without the need to get up and down from right back

We could line up next season with Nico , Rico and Nico in midfield - would love to see it

I find him like McAtee.....totalling anonymous 99% of the game. Always reading on here how he's "going to be a superstar for us"......I'd be amazed if he's still here after next season.

I like Mcatee but think he needs to find a way of imposing himself. He needs to rewatch all his David Silva dvds & get that competitiveness up a gear.
