87 | James McAtee - 2024/25

Bizarre given the issues we have that he hasnt had a chance. He came on v Feyenoord and it then went wrong and i remember he was a little sloppy but not actually culpable. Is he really bad in training, is Pep too stubborn to change a view or a Jan deal pretty much done and he is being protected so that completes?

It's a shame that City fans would resort to using the terms that rival fans are using for our players.

How quickly people have turned on the players who have given us the best success the club has had.
I have no idea what phrases are being coined by rival fans because I ignore them. Came off social media years ago, never look at rawk or Rag Cafe.

As a City fan of 41 years I reserve the right to use non-offensive, tongue in cheek gallows humour because for decades that’s what kept our chins up.

Every single time I’ve criticised the likes of Gundo and KDB I’ve added the caveat that they are fucking legends and nothing can change that.

I just think now is the time to try something different. If you don’t, that’s fine. It’s a game of opinions.

I just think it's hard to argue with Pep. He'll know more than us. I wouldnt be against playing McAtee but if he was good enough to play then Pep would play him.

What i would be against is throwing the kids into the fire and destroying their confidence.

You've seen on here the abuse Rico has received.

While Pep does know more than us, he also does get stuff wrong and is known to have biases. He decided Palmer wasn't good enough, who then goes to Chelsea and becomes the best player in the league, but thought Nunes was a good buy.

The clamouring for the younger players has increased because we can't keep sending out the same players in the same system to lose every game. Even if the younger players lost every game, at least they would be learning something and hopefully improving.

He didn't look too convinicing with the starts but should be given another crack for the rest of the season.

Take the blinkers off, mate.

1. Rinse and repeat isn’t working. Where is the additional risk of easing him in? And I don’t mean coming on in the 89th minute when a game is over.

2. Pep has no track record in dealing with situations like the present. And so far has shown no aptitude. It’s one thing believing he’ll eventually turn the corner (which we all hope) but quite a different one to follow his current mantra blindly.

3. Can you not see the risk of our famed academy system being undermined? Foden only got serious game time when he was literally impossible to ignore. Palmer and others got theirs by leaving the club. McAtee may be a leprous lump of shit for all I know but that’s certainly the message he’ll be getting after being bigged up then discarded.

4. The club is bigger than their manager and always will be.

If he plays and it doesn’t work out then hey, it was worth a try. And you’ll be able to say “I told you so”.

Pep is risk averse.

He won't change anything unless he has absolutely no other alternative.
I think he also sees dropping an experienced pro for a youth player a sign of disrespect. Yes he'll do it for cup games and if we've won the league but never does it for PL or CL games that matter. Always the experienced pro regardless. Which is killing us right now.
