An extremely talented player and boyhood blue.

He's deserved a chance during this terrible run. The anger and frustration he's building up will be all the fuel he needs to rise to the top somewhere else.

If we’re willing to let him go it suggests incomings could already have been agreed. It would be foolhardy after last summer to let players go without better replacements already secured
Don't disagree with the premise but, what do we have to replace James with a bench warmer?

Pep was clear he wanted him to stay in the summer, presumably he had good moves lined up but he trusted Pep. Appears to have been let down. Hope he goes and shows his talented somewhere were it is appreciated.

Only a bunch of clowns think they're smarter than Pep.

It doesn't matter what you think, it only matters what Pep thinks because he gets PAID by the club to make these decisions.

Don't like it go support someone else. I hear the rags want more fans who'll pay for their new seat prices!
It matters not what a spotty, Pep-struck fan boy thinks either.

From all the indications it appears we are very serious about recruitment this window. Maybe this is another reason James has decided to move on. This is just football, players move

Embarrassing. No one is infallible. no one is beyond criticism stop calling people with different opinions as rags or dippers. You gatekeepers aren’t covering yourself in glory here

Don’t blame him one bit for wanting to leave. He’s been mistreated by Pep, which is something some people don’t want to hear.

If you’re him you’ve got to be thinking, fuck this place I’m off.

If he does leave I wish him all the success in the world.
How has he? He’s been rubbish as a senior player.

Talented youths don’t mean great seniors, just look at Brandon Barker.

One poor appearance and he's been a rubbish senior player? Players need regular minutes and confidence to find their level.

The lad has performed to a good standard in the Championship and Premier League at Sheffield United. He's the star player of England U21s.

You must be on a wind up to compare him with Brandon Barker.

He was shite for Sheff U. Scored one in 10 and was dropped a lot.

Somehow he’s going to be a player in our side? Give over.

When did he last win a game for anyone?

Nice revisionism. He wasn't shite at all.

He should be a squad player and given minutes, yes. He can't do any worse than some of our older players at the point.

And from October - James McAtee’s dramatic late double kept England men’s under-21s’ hopes of topping their UEFA European Championship qualifying group alive. Beating Ukraine 2-1.

I’d remembered that game. It’s the one example. He was dross for 80 mins, but did score two late goals in a youth international.

Any senior game that he’s won?

His cameo against Feyenoord has pretty much finished him here if Pep stays.

Even if McAtee is not good enough for City, which to be honest I don't think he is. Not playing him for more then 10 minutes in the league on a run like this where the 'senior players' are both exhausted and in dreadful form is truly outrageous from Pep. City have mishandled the academy in the past 5 years and this is another example. People can be defensive if they want but its clearly the truth.

The academy is used principally a cash cow to pass PSR whilst buying top, established players.

Our recent purchases haven’t all turned out great and therefore, as we’re not winning, fans suddenly want youth players being played.

That’s not going to happen whilst Pep is manager, unless they’ve gained his trust. It took Foden 3-4 years to get a central role.
