Does not press well bit like Foden, his passing isn't great that's his negatives! What he does well is all around the pen area he does see a pass around the pen his runs into then area and finishing is very good! Thing is who is he going to replace in around the side anytime soon? He is 22/23 will be happy to sit on the bench for the next 3/5 years being a bit time player?

Personally think he will be sold for 25/30m with a sell on and a buyback and that would be for the best for McAteer..

He should be higher up the pecking order than the likes of Gundogan, Grealish and Nunes.

He can't play the Gundo role the other two yes but he is a player for me who be best behind a striker making runs in the box making the pass to a striker now we have players in that position who are in front of him! I'd love him to stay in and around the squad but is that best for him at his age?

I think the exact opposite. Nunes continues to drive forward when there's space in front of him, make very good passes and have a part in goals.

The only thing wrong with Nunes in my opinion is that he gets lost in a overpopulated attacking position and isn't given the ball often enough.

I think he is one our best players (as is Grealish when not wasted out on a wing).

McAfee seemed to have very low confidence for much of the game but finished strongly. He could be very good and should have been played more over the past months but we still don't know his potential.

I am convinced of Nunes' potential. I just hope Pep does too.
Isn’t nunes 26? He should be fully realising his potential by now. I do not know what fans of his see when he puts a city shirt on. Bar the pass his assist he was anonymous against a very poor league 2 opponent. Early doors some of his defensive work, shitting out of headers and tackles was woeful. If Nunes is one of our best players as you say we are in serious trouble.

It was best for him in the summer. He said it himself; he didn't expect much game but wanted to be amongst the best day in and day out. The only thing that changed since then is that we became the worst post-takeover City team and the manager still ignored him for the sake of trying to play unremarkable players into good form.

Correct. I never see him asking for the ball, like Kovacic did when he came on.

Pep said he’s the best passer at the club in tight areas.

I'm not judging him yet but he can hopefully now shine. He'll have the confidence to take forward, just what he needed. Hopefully a corner turned.

And him and foden are going to be brilliant together hopefully, they clearly have a lot of respect and understanding.

Pusey, mcatee, foden, Rico, orielly,... the future is looking very good.

Don’t think Pusey looks the standard we need unfortunate but agree on the others :)

Delightful player. Intelligent, technical, composed, skilful.

I’ve noticed when he starts games he tends to take ages to “get going”. Once he does, he’s class, but it shouldn’t be taking that long. To be a player in this team it needs to be from the off and he needs to stamp his authority on his part of the pitch.

I think his off the ball is below what it needs to be for a player in this team. Watching him I don’t think it’s a lack of effort, fitness or bravery I think it’s just not really “him”.

Therefore, if we keep him (which I would) we’d have to play him as the 10 where his best bits would be to the fore and his limitations less important.

Yeah he would have more game time and must be a reason he hasn't because pep knows there character with him being with them in training for years! Take O'Reily for example watch Pep post match press conference regarding O'Reily he said O'Reily doesn't believe he can play the 6 role he more of an attacking player and maybe he can in future! On the outside we think we know what's best but we don't know the full facts! I'm also one of those who believe the youth should of played more minutes or starting games..

26 isn't too old and the potential is in how we make the best of him.

Nunes imo is similar in style to Palmer. Give either a role that involves space and the ball and there will be goals.

Pep doesn't often allow that though. Which is a mystery to me, given the spell we just had. I see Nunes as part of the fix. Same with Grealish.

Like Ortega over the last 3yrs should be in every fa cup starting line up including the yearly final v Rags at Wembley. Really want him to succeed , no mention of him being a Salford lad yesterday while the camera focussed mainly on Giggs looking longingly at Butts latest lady friend.

I don't want him on loan or to leave. On current form he has done more with his current minutes than Phil has done all season. He deserves to start and I would play him instead of Phil. You can see similarities, Phil doesn't control a game but at his best, scores important goals. James looks like he has that talent as well. Give Phil a break and James a run of games. Win win.

Foden controls games better than McAteer two totally different players! Yep McAteer should have had more game time! I feel he be sold
