His hat trick vs League 2 Salford notwithstanding, he's been very average. I want him to be a star but I just don't see it. If you saw him on another team, would you even notice him?
Absolute rubbish. Average? What exactly are you basing that on? As he has barely played this season.

if your judging him on when he has. He changed the game against Leicester, scored a hatrick against Salford, despite barely playing and I’d argue he’s one of the best players our academy has produced. He wouldn’t be anywhere near the squad if he was average.

I'm pretty sure the lesson City will have learned from Palmer is "don't sell to a rival with no buy back", not "don't ever sell a good young player who needs minutes".

All the noises we've heard are that the club want him to extend his contract. Since his agent briefed the Telegraph that he wanted to leave, he's had two substantial appearances off the bench and a start - that's not a coincidence. He's shown his quality in the final third, but he's also shown why he hasn't been thrown in instead of the likes of Gundogan in midfield - he gives the ball away far too much, even against poor opposition. When he moved further up the pitch against Salford the difference was huge. But he's our 3rd choice number 10 at best, and probably our 5th choice right winger. And that's without factoring in Bobb or Marmoush.

So if he still wants to leave now, we shouldn't stand in his way and risk losing him for nothing. Extend and loan or sell with a buy back.

Agreed. Hard to say he’s been average when he’s either got 1 minute here 3 minutes there.

Got brought on against Feynoord and the defence just decided to collapse.

Played away against Spurs in the cup as a false 9 with zero support.

Easier to let a youth player leave that's on low ages whether they are good enough or not rather than a £50m on high wages when they're clearly not good enough.

The annoying thing is. Pep and the staff will tell these young players to be patient and you'll get your chance, the moment a bid comes in for one of them they'll be sold. Expect Callum Doyle to be gone in the summer too.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect yours but for my part I truly believe he could be a star of the future for us - reminds me of David Silva when he is on the ball sometimes - let’s wait and see which one of us is right in the long run - for my part just hope he stays at City whatever the final outcome

I'll be fuming if we sell him in this window without Pep giving the lad a proper chance, especially after scoring a hattrick. It's our duty to develop him further, not any other club.
I accept fringe players will go but not when they are showing huge potential. Both from economic and club spirit point of view.
It reminds me of knowing a cheap garage (City) where you can pick up a nearly new car for half price and sell your own full value plus.
Very hard to accept.

It’s not though. He’s been invisible at times both for us and in his Sheffield United spell. Right now it’s fair to say average at this level at this stage.

HOWEVER…he’s clearly a talent. He’s in desperate need of minutes in a cohesive team and not dead minutes like vs West Ham or in a makeshift cup side.

We either put him in now and accept we’ll be worse for it short term or we sell him to a good footballing side and install a buy back.

Not been a fan of McAtee but I hope he stays and proves a few, me included wrong and he makes it here

We are short of players and it’s madness letting anyone leave this window especially young lads who are hopefully hungry to succeed

Kyle can go but he’s at the end of his career

Like Palmer?
Palmer had Silva/Doku in his way, and Bobb behind him. He was good enough to make RW his own for me. McAtee's best position is a 10, don't think he'll ever be the guy in that position here. So 2nd/3rd choice if he stays, he might have a jump and prove me wrong though.

McAtee is a star in the making. A City level star. Not comfortable letting him leave unless we have a buy back for no more than we sell him for...

I completely disagree mate. How can you properly judge him on his appearances for us. He’s barely played. It was his first start in 10 weeks against Salford. How’s any player meant to show consistency with no starts

Sheffield United were terrible, yet he still stood out.

I don’t agree with your last point. Why would we be worse off, bringing him off the bench or starting him in the odd game? (no one’s expecting him to start every week). Do you really not rate him that much?

We weren’t worse off when he came on against Leicester.

Come down to his call, realistically he'll be 2nd/3rd choice in all his best positions here for awhile, if not forever.
There is absolutely no need to sell him. Pep should reassure McAtee that he wants him to stay and fight for his place as part of the squad. In a year or two he may become unsellable or he may not be good enough to play for us but he must be given a chance. If we do decide to srll him in future we'll get good money for him.

Lessons need to be learned by allowing Palmer to leave before giving him a proper chance : /

agree, its why i think this will be his call on the offer.

Why is everyone talking about Gundogan?

He is playing in the DM spot, do people really want McAtee to play there?

Thats ridiculous.

Anyways, I hope he stays, this guy is a killer in the box, and these type of players are so important to keep.

He should only play to rotate in the ST, CAM or RW spots. I think there are minutes there.
