I think it’s not only the striker position. I think football players in any position are weaker than years ago. Not even nostalgia I think it’s facts but maybe it’s also due to the high instantly games nowadays. People run more without the ball than 10years ago I’d say. In terms of talent the striker Brigade in 10s was definitely much better. Haaland is a bit lucky to play now where there‘s only 3-4 strikers any at his level where one has maybe 1 year left the other max 3 years and the other 2 are wasting at a weaker club.

Playing fast works for haaland. Playing slow doesn't stop him but it doesn't play to his strengths. He's the best striker in the world. Maybe play to his strengths.

Exactly. When we played with a bit of urgency rather than slow snails pace build up, he scored, no bother.

Hard to criticise haaland when the team just pass the ball side to side and let teams get 9 men behind the ball. What's he meant to do with that really?

That's not to say slow build up play hasn't got its place, but I'd love to see us vary our attack a bit more with a bit more urgency. It's incredible he's scores as many as he has really, when you consider we barely play to his strengths.

On a similar note, we complain teams sit very deep against us a lot, but a lot of that is our fault. We are very slow at advancing up the pitch at times that teams are obviously going to set themselves defensively and have time to do it. And so they should.

The goal yesterday was a result of us moving the ball quickly and suddenly the gaps appeared because there was no opportunity for them to get set, then Haaland has space and scores. It's like we overcomplicate it sometimes, and that's fine at times but we're too predictable these days

We definitely need to mix it up a bit.

Our pointless going nowhere possession is easily defended against nowadays.

Why do United for example score so many late goals.? It's because they aren't scared to fling the ball forward, or get crosses in to the box.

We are so one dimensional.
Ushited, really. Not the best example.

Right now he’s the best forward in the world because the second best striker is a 33 year old Kane or grandad Lewandowski, 8-10 years ago, there was players who scored as much as him (or close), whilst also being technically waaay better.
Luis Suarez, Messi, Cristiano, Benzema, Kane, Zlatan, Aguero, Lewandowski. You put Erling Haaland in 2014-2017ish he wouldn’t be in the top 5 forward in the world.

To be fair, the biggest scorers in that list were scoring in places like Spain. Imagine what Haaland would do in Spain

Ronaldo and Suarez weren't on Haalands level of scoring in England but started doubling their tally when they arrived in Spain. That's not a coincidence.

Haaland would break all records in Spain if he is breaking premier league records while playing against a flat back 9 most weeks.

To be fair Ronaldo was getting there before he left the shite. Obviously comparing anyone other than Messi to Ronaldo is harsh though. Haaland just is what he is an amazing goal scorer who’d bag shitloads in any era. He’s just not got the technical ability and skill as some of the names being mentioned.

Luis Suarez scored 31 in 33 PL games (no penalties) and got 17 assists for a shit Liverpool side in 2014, I think prime 2013-2017 Suarez definitely scores as much Haaland in this City side over the last couple years. Prime Messi and Cristiano ofc are incomparable. It’s not just the scoring though, Haaland is ALREADY an all time great at, it’s the all round game. Some of Those players I mentioned were technically on fucking Riyadh Mahrez level, and they still scored that much. Haaland is young so he’ll improve, but I doubt he can ever be as good on the ball as a Zlatan, Cristiano, Aguero etc

Ronaldo was getting there? The season before he left he got 18 league goals. He hit 31 the season before that. His next highest was about 12.

Last season, Haaland did more than Ronaldo's final season at the rags despite missing two months. He's already got more this season and there's 3 months to go.

Ronaldo wasn't close to Haaland in terms of scoring goals in England, that's for sure.

Going by what proven inferior scorers than Haaland in England were notching up in Spain, I think Haaland's tally there would be frightening.

Also for someome with supposed shite all round ability, he actually has a better assists per game ratio than Ronaldo in the Premier League. Haaland has just under half the amount of assists as Ronaldo but played anout 3x less games.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say he has some maturing to do.

I think Bellingham is in the same bracket when it comes to this "persona" but they could all learn a thing or two previous greats. Messi is considered the best but he rarely got into spats with players. Eventually you just put a target on your back.

I could be wrong but thought Ronaldo got 30 odd to 40 in a season before leaving them. Arsed about assists but to compare Haaland as a footballer to Ronaldo is frankly laughable.

Haaland and Bellingham in the same breath? Not a chance.

Erling showed tremendous maturity yesterday. There were numerous times he could have flashed in reaction to Arsenal players goading him, but he bit his tongue and got on with the game.

Exactly, also Cristiano scored so many goals in big CL KO games, in quarter finals and semi finals where unfortunately Haalands record is not great in, regardless like I said, even though Haaland goal record is second to none, he’s an all time great goal scorer ALREADY his all round play is nowhere near those forwards, I mentioned from that era.
