9 | Erling Haaland - 2024/25

Not scoring though. We need a midfield. Pack it out until we get numbers back or keep losing?
He’s not playing well and to be honest he’ll never be a great actual footballer. Don’t see how dropping an unbelievable goalscorer from a side struggling to score goals will help. We play slow with him and go round in circles. Without him we’d be worse for that but teams could pin us back completely knowing there is no threat of anyone running in behind.

The mind continues to boggle at some of these comments. What do people want him to do? He's getting zero service, 1 chance he had tonight, 1 chance In 90 minutes of dominance.

He did nothing wrong with that chance, it was just a fantastic save. Look at vlahovic on the other side, barely had a sniff first half like Haaland, because he wasnt getting amy supply. second half tthy decided it might be a good idea to at least give him something to aattackonce in a while and he goes and scores, if we bothered to supply him, he'd score, we don't so he can't.
Him missing a chance isn’t a big concern, it happens. Be good if he could actually hold the ball up at times though and give us a genuine presence whilst the rest of the team is struggling so badly

Don't think he looks arsed, and you can say about the service but he gets multiple big chances every game and has multiple instances if dangerous balls he just doesn't interpret

Looks like he's hiding away

That's for Pep and the club to come up with.
Logically though how are we supposed to do it? He thrives off running on to through balls but there is such limited space the way teams set up against us. So a run from the half way line happens once in a blue moon. The through ball has to be perfect against such compact teams but he’s got one of the best in the world at it in KDB. Twice he’s had said passes from him in the last 2 games but the keeper has saved his shots.

Aside from that i don’t see what we change for him. More crosses in? Great header last week against Palace but generally he’s not particularly good in the air. Play it into his feet more? Every time we did that last night it just bloody bounced off him as his hold up play is average at best.

Pep needs to sharpen up tactically. What we’re doing isn’t working. We’re blunt and Foden’s goals last year dragged us over the line.

We need to make use of Haaland a lot more than we are. He’s essentially a decoy in this system and you can tell he can’t be arsed with it.

That’s a slant on him as well - body language tends to be gash - but mostly on Pep. He’s gone from being unplayable and feared by every defence to being easy to play against.

I keep going back to it but Ben fucking Davies pocketed him. At home. He needs to offer more.
