The elephant in the room for the next decade.

2 golden boots in 2 title winning seasons. In a year where we've gone to shit, he's still in the golden boot hunt.

I think he has a lot of room to develop as a player because he has such an insane ceiling, but I think "elephant in the room" is a little much since he's already been so productive for us.

Golden boot doesn’t mean a thing.
Shearer and Kane won bugger all.
We’re scoring fewer goals as a team since he arrived, and have scored 10 less goals this season versus last.
To coin a phrase, we have become ‘The Erling Haaland Team’

Right but he won the treble, and another Premier League as well...

We've absolutely had a lot of games where we've become one dimensional in our attack and we lean on Haaland too much.

However, are you making the argument that we arent playing well, or that Haaland isn't playing well? Because he's had 2 seasons where he's scored the most goals in the league on the title winner, so I'm not laying the blame at his feet.

Having a midfield support system that is aging like milk isn't doing him any good. He needs a better midfield and wing support.

The problem lies with the team, not him. We have 2 talented yet young and raw wingers in Savinho and Doku who will get "there" in due time, Grealish who unfortunately probably isn't here next season, Bernardo, KDB, Gundo who are all showing their age and Foden who for some reason has completely lost it this season. Strikers can only work with the support offered.

I've just had a look at your post history. Hope you don't mind.

You signed up in 2013 and didn't post until 2017. Your first post on this forum was to criticise Yaya Toure in a nothing Champions League game. You then disappeared for three years before coming back to say "Not one of Jesus, Sterling, or Mahrez are natural finishers" and suggest that we sign Aubameyang instead.

Since we've signed Haaland you seem to have had it in for him big time, although you were conspicuous by your absence between March and September 2023. I wonder why you vanished in the summer of 2023? And only came back with more negative posts after the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal the following season?

You stuck around for a bit then, to your credit. But every other post was about Haaland making us a worse team - I wish I was exaggerating. But then you vanished from the forum again between April and June 2024. I wonder why that was. You're now active again and, once again, every other post of yours is about Haaland.

A pattern is forming.

Yeah but....apart from that?

Man likes long summer holidays at his majestys pleasure

So we totally change the way we play to suit him?
He is part of the problem. His contribution in open play is poor.
His touch and ability to play in tight spaces is not up to it.
he isn’t going to change and we now have him for years but we need to play to his skills as he will score lots for us . Our style of play is also being found out and we now need pep to change our style of play ti be more direct and big erl will do the business .

And your point is?
If your issue is that my posts are always critical, then I agree.
I don’t see any point in the C’mon City, Foden is class, Fuck off united type posts.
I see the forum as a place to share your opinions and frustrations amongst fellow fans.
It is because we care so much, it’s probably a form of therapy.
The lack of activity would suggest I didn’t have any complaints.
I didn’t realise there is an obligation to post on a regular basis.

If you’re a big man playing up front you have to be able to win headers and hold the ball up. Whether you are Niall Quinn, Uwe Rosler or Erling. He is great but we need him to use his physicality more. It’s not too much to ask that he improves in this area. When he does he will be a truly world class player. Until then he needs to be spoon fed chances - which he’s brilliant at finishing but it’s not quite enough when the team is struggling like this season

It's not that you don't post regularly, it's that you only post negative stuff and 99% of it is directed at Haaland. You can see why people would be suspicious you're on the wind-up.

It’s not my aim to wind people up.
As you know, I just don’t share everyone else’s unbridled love for EH.
Anyway, it looks like I will have to suck it up for the next 10 years, so let’s hope you are right.

He is never a blue

last time i checked kane’s level was zero goals from open play in 541 minutes

meanwhile over the same run of games haaland’s scored 5, playing for a much worse team, in a much better league

so yeah great timing with the comparisons you absolute cretin
Haaland is the best striker in the world imo, but his record in games vs top defenders is not good.
Goals vs Madrid 0 in 4 games
Goals vs Arsenal 3 in 9 games
Goals vs Liverpool 1 in 6 games
Goals vs inter Milan 0 in 2 games
Goals in semi finals and finals 0 in 9?
Whereas outside those top top teams his record is pretty much 1 in 1.
He is young, so he will improve this I have no doubt, but I just wanna see him score in big games like Vinicius and Mbappe have done. I don’t care if he doesn’t have an all round game like Marco Ban Basten, but he really needs to improve his goal record when it REALLY matters. KDB and Gundogan are probably leaving soon and we can’t rely on them to get goals in the high pressure games anymore. Erling has the potential to be one of the greatest goal scorers ever, a true great of the game, up there with the likes of Gerd Muller, Eusebio, Cristiano, etc, but he can’t be rated up there with unless he improves this. (Which he will imo as he is playing under the GOAT manager and for a a top team)
