#9 | Gabriel Jesus - 2019/20 Performances

I’ve seen plenty of games where Sergio is anonymous and then pops up with a couple of goals. Gabby rarely looks fully involved - and keeps popping up with goals. I think there are more similarities than some supporters think. If he could learn to stay onside (drives me mad) he would score even more. If he played somewhere else, plenty on here would be screaming for us to sign him.

No one dislikes him, no one wants him to fail, the only thing anyone wants is a realistic appraisal of him when he plays. So far, we get "he hasn't scored but he's run a lot, world class", "he's missed a penalty but he scored one for Brazil, world class", "Aguero missed an open goal when he was 22, so Jesus is world class".

It's unfair, inaccurate, and actually increases the pressure on a young lad playing second fiddle to one of the best strikers the world has ever seen. Let's let him develop a bit more, hopefully get a bit more game time over the next few seasons both with and without Aguero, and if he's good enough, great, we've got an absolute bargain, if not, move him on and we'll look at other options.

All anyone wants is City to be successful and do their best. That's it.
Apart from Jesus' mum when she logs onto bluemoon ;)
Actually, I doubt there is any pressure at all. Personally, I have no doubt GJ can become the man here. But competition is always good. Keep him and Aguero sharp.

Don’t entirely get the debate around him. He scores pretty frequently. This year in the league he’s started 12 matches, has scored 9 goals. Even aside from the 8 sub appearances, if you extrapolated him starting 30-ish league matches a year you’d have to imagine he’d score 25-30 goals somewhat comfortably. What’s the issue here?

The issue is some fans want to see Kun start all important games and struggle to warm towards Gabby. For them, Gabby has to do better than Sergio to accept him and that's difficult, especially at 22.

Had Gabby played last night, missed those chances Kun had and we lost, he would have been hammered on here and branded a liability and a main reason why we lost.

I thought Sergio played well, it wasn't his day yesterday. But he doesn't offer much more than Gabby by any means. Won't be surprised if we start in Madrid without strikers.

Yesterday was about De Gea having a great game not Kun missing chances.

As for Jesus, I don't understand why he isn't being employed as a LW given Sterling's woeful form of late.

Our best option at LW right now until Sane is fit again.

He looked great playing there against Villa with Sergio up top and I just can't understand why Pep's continually persisting with Sterling's terrible form when Gabby is the obvious answer to at least give a shot there.
