a lot of his goals have come from the bench when other teams are tired and he will run them to death. But maybe that doesnt work when he starts.

Not really true at all, it's one of the weird myths around Jesus people keep repeating.

As a starter he's scored 65 in 100 (47 in 67 in the league).

As a substitute he's got 7 goals in 64.

I guess the fact he has played 164 games and 64 as a sub gives that impression. I stand corrected.

That's the same nonsense that Liverpool spout about Firmino to justify his existence. Jesus is no different to him - A player who started well, but is no longer living up to expectations and is living off the odd goal.

Like Firmino, PL defenders simply aren't worried by or about Jesus. He's got a big heart, but lacks any real presence

Didn't Liverpool win the league and CL with Firmino as a starter?

Bet they are wish they had Danny Ings instead...

All our forwards are scoring less goals. This is due to a few things, they are taking less shots because defences are more packed(regularly come up against 5 at the back)and as you seen vs Palace teams still parking the bus when losing. Couple that with less creativity from our midfield and wings(we miss Dave)
We have scored 1 goal from the 6 yard box this season. Joint least in the league with the bottom 3 and Wolves. Last season we finished with 22, most in the league by 6. So we're about 10 goals off the pace from there alone, a position where Sterling usually thrives. I can't remember any goals where we've got to the oppo byline and cut it across for a tap-in?
Also, half way through the season and Kev has set-up 50% of our assisted goals compared to assisting 29% last year.
The fact Kev has had almost double the amount of shots in the league than anyone else in the team and only Sterling has had more than Gundo(who has almost had more shots in the box(18) than he did last two seasons combined(24) - 13 appearances vs 62) points to there being less opportunity to shoot for our players in advanced positions and instead we are relying on our mids.

Basically Gabby is not the issue with our team in the final 3rd, it's the lack of creativity outside of Kev. We are struggling vs the packed defences of the league as when you look at the more open champs league we are scoring and creating plenty. A new striker wouldn't change it either.

Great post, IMO.

One of the main problems I have with him, is barring Liverpool and Madrid, he scores against cannon fodder.

I’d rarely, if ever, expect him to pull it out of the bag in the rather big games. Of course there’s a place for goals against the lower table teams, lord knows we’ve struggled at times, but that suggests to me that as a goal scorer and game changer, he’s not going to cut it.

Yet another poor performance from our Brazilian no9.
But...
1.his work rate was amazing
2.he didn’t get any service
3.he’s not a striker
4.he was unlucky when he hit the post
5.his off the ball movement was incredible
6.he’s recovering from COVID-19
7.he’s not Sergio stop comparing him to Sergio.
8.he needs more time
Feel free to borrow one of the above .

Just isn’t the required level to take over from Sergi. He and Mahrez waste so many chances
