Or we choose not to play with a recognised striker but, instead, have three attacking midfielders, in every game, who are each capable of banging in 20 a season, backed up by others who can also finish when the chance presents itself. In my opinion, with the packed defences we face each week, we may need to move away from the traditional striker ideal.
Possibly, and I can see Pep making that work with the players we have, but there is a definite strikers/goal poachers art which gives us more options in tight games.

According to the official Premier League stats, he’s missed 2 big chances so far this season.

By way of comparison, Sterling has missed 7, De Bruyne 8, and Vardy and Son have both missed 9.

Does his finishing have to improve? Yes, undoubtedly. But honestly we’ve been very wasteful as a team for a while now, and he’s hardly the worst culprit

Great players are proactive. Top strikers read situations and use skill and/or speed to create space/opportunities in dangerous areas and feed off the 'killer' pass or deflection etc - it's innate. Aguero has it in spades

As I see it, Jesus is a reactive player. He rarely creates space or beats a defender and invariably waits for an opportunity to fall at his feet. He doesn't seem to have the ability to create 'big chances' for himself. That's why he's only missed 2 this season.

If you were to offer me the option of either Jamie Vardy or Son playing for City instead of Jesus, I'd take your hand off, and I'm sure most people would do the same.

If we didn't have Aguero would we really choose Gabby as a our go to Striker. I think he has a role in rotating our midfield but not as a player whose going to notch 20+ a season. Look how much Sterling has fell away without the presence of a main striker.

Last season Sterling scored 11 goals in 13 games with primarily Jesus or a false 9 up front, post restart.

Our recent problems with goalscoring run deeper than individuals.

Why is this still being discussed? Has Jesus suddenly discovered how to score and put an end to this discussion? It's still being discussed because he hasn't improved any mate. The discussion is still there to be had. In fact, I'm new to the discussion because I like Jesus and I really wanted him to become the player we thought we'd signed. After four years of waiting, I've accepted, with his confidence issue, we've got a striker that can't score. No, he is no Aguero (that goes without saying) but he's scored 2 PL goals this season. Two! Michael Keane's scored more than him.
So you used his stats this year to downgrade his ability.... gotcha....

Jesus has over 100 goal involvements at City while playing second fiddle to Sergio most of the time. It's those over 100 goals/assists which have contributed to our success, not just that goal vs Southampton. Plus being the best pressing striker in the world. Last season he was our best player against Real, this season he was our best player against Liverpool, i.e., it's not like he has been involved only in goals vs crap teams.

People make the same mistake as the mistake with Bernardo. But but but Bernardo has contributed 0 goals and 0 assists, why does Pep play him??? Jesus will come good, give it several games from now and he'll deliver.
Mate, if, in several games from now, you can come back and say 'I told you so', I'll be very happy.
