Professional footballer makes error of judgement, happens to most players in most games.
Now considered, "Cowardice", congratulations on bringing player analysis to a new low. He is 23 years old, has scored 77 goals for City in 178 appearances, not 178 full games and you think that tagging him as cowardly is appropriate. He rarely stops working, bounces back when things go against him, worked hard to come back from injury and illness, all indications of a very good character, but you see fit to accuse him of cowardice and some unspecified reference to " It says a lot about his mentality and natural tendecies". So what does "it" say about " his mentality and natural tendecies" ?, we are not all experts on the psychological make up of Brazilian international footballers. The shirt he wears says "G.Jesus" not "Aguero's heir" or clone, maybe we should accept that he is selected for what he brings to the team right now and let Pep and the backroom staff decide on his character and mentality.

Great lines Sir.
I think anyone using the word "cowardice" with any of our players , does not really deserve to call themselves a supporter of mcfc.
As you point out his figures are brilliant and some of his link up play last night was world class.

Worked his bollocks off again last night (as did the entire team) & he was always looking to bring others into to play. It was a bit strange when he found himself through on goal and he seemed to jog rather than run at speed but he deserved his goal eventually.

You can say a lot of good things about Jesus, but "his figures are brilliant" are absolutely not one of those. 4 goals in 17 league matches this season - a goal every 300 minutes, is one of the worst conversion rates for a striker in the PL this season. Again, I will accept that he plays a very important role and does it very well, but let's not delude ourselves - his figures are not "brilliant".

And cue the inevitable "don't call yourself a fan if you have even a tiny bit of criticism of the lad" comments.

Is anyone really surprised that he is having a crisis of confidence in front of goal?

You take a 20 year old kid and give him irregular game time behind the best striker we've ever had. You force a constant comparison between the two from the moment he arrives. Then you create a situation where every single game Aguero is out there is a ton of pressure to prove you are good enough. You must score. No one gives a shit about all the other work you do, you must score.

Then as soon as you dont score in 1 game people start questioning you. If its 2 games? Twice as much chat. Doesnt matter that Aguero has gone 10+ league games without a goal, this is your chance, you must score.

Come back with no preseason and lead the line. Play injured because Aguero is out. Why arent you scoring? Play when the team is going through its worst period in 3 years and not scoring any goals. No one is cresting any chances but you're still getting shit for not starting.

Oh and by the way we are going to buy a 100m striker this summer so you better start delivering. Coronavirus knocks you out for 3 weeks. Now play on the wing for a bit. Now get subbed early because you're the only fit striker. Still not scoring enough. Now Aguero is back, get ready to be benched again.

I think Pep's management of him has been poor, he is clearly a guy who needs an arm around the shoulder and to relax instead Pep ramps up the pressure on him whenever he can.

I think its amazing he is still playing so well outside the box and probably testament to just how much pressure he can take that he recovered from a bad miss yesterday.

Sooner rather than later he will get over it. This is not a skill he lacks, look at the finish 12 months ago vs. Real and its a much harder chance from the same kind of winning the ball back high up and he hit it straight away. It's a mental block.

I wonder if the club psychiatrist Stones used speaks Portuguese? Probably not.

His figures are absolutely incredible unless you're the kind of person who decides to only look at this 1 season when he's been injured, had covid, played through injuries and the clubs worst spell of form in years.

So, his figures are absolutely incredible, unless you look at his figures, is what you're saying.

Never seen so many excuses made for a player in a single post before. Think you gave around a dozen of why it's actually fine that our striker doesn't score goals. Even Klopp doesn't give THAT many excuses!

Now go and have a look at the Sterling thread and see how no one is giving him any benefit of the doubt.. After all he's done for the club, people are still calling to sell him!

Bluemoon can be weird in the players they pick to defend versus who they have no time for.

This might be half an interesting post if I hadn't been someone who gave Sterling the benefit of the doubt at Jesus' age and seen it paid back with 100+ goals.

Jesus is 2.5 years younger than Sterling - 2.5 years ago Sterling was probably our best player!

if you want to spout shit, expect shit back
absolutely remarkable how no one here wants to hear the cold hard fact that Gabriel Jesus has one of the worst conversion rates of any striker in the PL this season. Just impossible to reconcile with that simple truth.
