Seems to help us go top of the league with several games in hand. We’re third top scorers in the league as well. Truth is, Jesus will never be a regular goal scorer like Aguero at the top level.

I meant none of the front 3 can find rhythm or form(score braces every now and then) as they are yo-yoing in and out of the team. nothing to do with how we are doing as a team, we are where we are due to our defence anyway.

Its because they’re not top goalscorers.

Sterling is the closest but a lot of his goals rely on his movement and he’s not been getting into the same positions as before and hasn’t been playing well in general despite a lot of starts.

Jesus just isn’t an elite goal scorer though. It’s not hard to work out or realise. He does well in individual games but he’ll never have the consistency to be a top 3 marksman in the PL.

Unless you don’t think we need a new striker and any problems we have we simply be solved by playing the same players over and over during a condensed season?

We need a striker to replace Aguero, not Jesus.

Of course there's a need to rotate but i'm talking about Pep changing the forward line in every game then saying none of our forwards are scoring in every game. Sterling and Mahrez got a goal and assist each vs West Brom then neither are seen vs Sheffield. How are they supposed to build on those good performances if they are rewarded for them by being taken out of the team?

Of the 1800mins of Prem football we've played, only Sterling from our forwards has played more than a 1000.

Jesus was planned to be the player to replace Aguero.

Now instead of buying a secondary striker we have to buy a real goal scorer in order to fill those goals instead because Jesus hasn’t lived up to expectations.

Tbf, I don’t mind Jesus. He’s a good back up option but unfortunately he was expected to move beyond that by now but it’s not looking like he ever will.

His goal to games for us is similar as Aguero's at Atletico.. His mins per goal is far superior though. Think Aguero became the consistent goal scorer he is at around the age Jesus is now.

How can one be certain that a talented striker is never going to be a top striker when the said striker is 23 y.o. and has scored two seasons in a row 20+ goals? Jesus isn't in his prime yet. He is likely to improve when he matures, as was the case with Aguero, Lewandowski and say Vardy. Vardy hadn't scored 6 (six) PL goals in a PL season before scoring 24 in 15/16 when he turned 28. Players develop at different rates. Not saying we should be too patient with Jesus, just that future is less predictable than many seem to think. For instance, Stones looked lost several months ago, now he looks world class.

Last season Jesus had 6 goals in 7 CL starts and 14 goals in 21 PL starts: that is, 20 goals in 28 starts in PL + CL. That's excellent, especially if you take into account the fact that Jesus contributed 10 assists in the PL + CL.

In other words, Jesus had 30 (!) goal involvements in 28 PL + CL starts last season. Those saying he offers little more than running are too harsh on him. He has contributed to more than 100 goals for City so far, i.e., on average, to 25 goals a year, while being 19-23 y.o. That's a good basis to build on.

Couldn’t agree more.

His career at city has stalled big time.

This is his 5th season and I don’t see any sign of him staking a claim to be our first choice striker.

I like him, I just don’t think it’s going to work out at city.

We put chances on a plate and he’s never in the right place or often misses simple chances.

We’ve addressed our problems at the back and now we need to address our problems upfront, starting with bringing in a clinical front line.

Can't see a future for him at City at all. He is always going to play second fiddle to someone as he just isnt good enough to be our forst choice striker. I always hoped he'd force Serg out and after he first signed i thought we had a gem. Maybe its lack of consistent playing time, he just hasn't progressed like i thought he would. Maybe a move would do him good where he can play week after week, but he just isnt going to get that here.

VAR robbed him of an assist and a penalty to go with the 3rd goal in 3 games.

I thought he got shite service from Sterling and Mahrez who had no interest in playing him in or crossing at all, just wanted to score themselves, and while alls well that ends well, If he'd had Bernardo on the right and Torres or Foden on the left I think he'd have scored a hatful tonight. He was finding space in the box and just begging for the ball while they ignored him.

Should play at Anfield.
