Retail work with a lot of employers is a demanding job. It's a long day with unsociable hours, for a crap wage.
Yes, they could look at warehouse work, but studies have shown that in some areas warehouse jobs already attract many more applications than other jobs and are often vastly over subscribed.
The question has to be how much effort and money will be put into encouraging people to retrain for other occupations? Very little, I'd imagine.
This country seems to teetering on almost a Victorian mindset when it comes to the workplace, and it's worrying to say the least.
 
I'm just glad i'm more towards the end of my working life than the beginning.
No disrespect meant to the men who work in such jobs but the thought of working in a call centre or a fucking supermarket would fill me with dread.
 
3d printing will have a massive affect on jobs in the future. Saw a great video from NASA on this subject. They can even manufacture spare parts on the International Space Station from commands sent from earth.
