9th November 1977 v Luton @ the Swamp

Didn't go to that game but went to Highbury that season in the League cup midweek replay lost 1-0 penalty,it was packed out that night 58,000 crowd.

Got a very slight kicking of some Rags on Warwick Rd after the game, they ran out of Railway road literally kicked me a few times and ran back lads I was with just ahead of me never noticed, I was lagging behind because i had a pulled hamstring so limping a bit and only 15 so Rag scum never change

I remember it well!
2-0 down, 3-2 up, Now we're gonna win the Cup!
We went 2-0 down in the first half, Tueart scored from the spot, Channon equalised, Tueart missed his second spot kick, before Kidd scored late into extra time!
I think we then played @ Dipswich Town, winning 2-1 can't remember who scored, before losing to Arse 1-0
NO Rags, but still a sh1thole!!!

Yep I was there with mates on the train, we all got arrested when we got back to Macc for allegedly standing in the seats (we weren’t!) Later released without charge due to lack of evidence (only one smudged footprint). The game was pretty dire if I remember, and only about 15,000 there

I only vaguely remember this.
Does anyone remember going to this ?

City win 3-2 at Old Trafford – but not against Manchester United. Having drawn twice with Luton Town in the League Cup third round – 1-1 at Kenilworth Road and 0-0 in the replay at Maine Road – a neutral venue was arranged, though being held in Manchester, City had something of an advantage! It was worth the admission just to see City fans in the Stretford End, and the Blues progressed to the next round thanks to goals from Peter Barnes, Mike Channon and Brian Kidd in front of a gate of 13,,043.
Yes i was there. Think only the stretford end was open so meant a small turn out. What stood out for me was the plod stood in crows nest in the stantions pointing out trouble makers( basically fans singing) so the snatch squad could turf them out. Didn’t the Futchers score in this game and soon after bought them both?

I remember us playing a 2nd replay vs Walsall around 1973 at the Swamp. The mullet haired Bay City roller fans were out in force that night (outside the ground) trying to ambush blues after the game.
Sure we also played Bury there too. I went v Luton but I’m sure I also went to watch us play Bury there?

there was more than the stretford end open to us,i was 12 and remember little of it but i know we were'nt just in the stretford end,i'm gonna phone my dad up tomorrow and ask him, hopefully he'll remember more than me,he's 82 though !

This game was 2 days before my 12th birthday. I was given a straight choice by my Dad, either I can go to the game, or stay up and watch City on Superstars on BBC. Obviously, I chose the game, didn’t get to see the winning goal though, he dragged me home early!

Didn't want to start a new thread so I thought this belonged in here.

Cut a long story short, my mates grandad died years and years ago and left his house to his son (my mates dad). My mate has now bought the said house off his dsd and is doing it up.

Found all these in the attic carefully wrapped up in brown paper.

He's thinking of getting them framed.

Milk Cup in ‘85? Wilf McGuinness came on to attend an injured player to the serenade of “He wore, he wore, he wore a silver nipple - he wore a silver nipple on the top of his head” from the Stockport Blues in the Paddock. Filthy night, in so many ways…

Yeh, I was at that one as well.

On the Stretford End we were chanting : -
"2 nil down, 3-2 up, now we're going to win the cup" after taking the lead.
Plenty of magic marker graffiti too !
Yep, remember that and lads wearing surgical masks to keep out the stink!
I remember thinking, ffs don't lose at the swamp of all places.
It was also during the time that the gates were opened 20 mins before the end and quite a few locals came in to have a look around!

Had completely forgot about this game Pink Final till you metioned it . The only thing i can remember about it was the bogs in the stretford end being smashed up at half time .
