A big "well done" to the Met

Stop and search infringes on civil liberties but knocking people off mopeds doesn't :) Don't get me wrong it's about time but it's a crazy time to be alive.

I saw that today and wondered why they were saying it was a new tactic, the cops used to do that sort of thing years ago until the PC brigade started demanding they get prosecuted. Faced with that threat, the cops stopped doing the sensible thing, the thing that the majority of the public would back them for. Wait until one of the robbers dies (they started to remove their crash helmets in the belief that the cops would stop chasing them) and the Guardian want a cop prosecuted.

It has to be dependent on what they’ve done surely, if the helmetless rider has nicked a packet of biscuits then knocking them off their bike(risking their head hitting the road and killing them) seems over zealous. But yeah, it’s great to create a deterrent, the police will knock you off your bike!

You see that is the problem. The cops are either allowed to knock them off their bikes or they aren't.
There is a huge difference between snatching a phone out of someones hand where minimal violence is used and a robbery where they hurt someone but how is the cop to know at the time ?
What happens when a cop knocks a lad of his bike but there is insufficient evidence to charge him with an offence ? As i put in my early post, we just used to let the cops get on with it and they did until the PC brigade complained and demanded prosections and people being sacked so the cops thought stuff it.
