didnt expect sympathy when i posted, but the "fuck you" attitude of "blue's" on here is amazing , i was just pointing out the path city are heading down, if this is marwood and cooks "new" city, they can keep it . i wont be giving kitbag(not city) 1 fuckin penny of my money! oh and city in the community staff also will be shedding jobs , just heard that today.............progress???? my arse

Where did you hear the story about Kitbag?
And the one about CITC? They've just announced a new scheme so I'd have thought that getting rid of people would be the last thing they'd be doing.

Are you 100% sure this isn't someone winding you up? There only appears to be you that knows about these two quite major revelations. Nothing off any disgruntled empoyees on here as yet.

110% sure . my son works there!!!!
dont think the employees have posted their anger yet, because its supposed to be top secret.

I also have a relative who after 15 years sevice (Ball was manager) when this person started and had to put up with some shit on the pitch and behind the sceanes . Working stupid hours and putting on a "customer allways right " attitude. Then to be told you start at kitbag on the 19th july without a thanks ' kiss my arse or anything." BE PART OF IT " but for some people they wont.

So you've heard of an ex-employee who heard it off someone else.
And the CITC haven't posted anything as its top secret? So top secret that the staff know about it. I think your sons being wound up here. I seriously doubt that the club would expect the staff to stay quiet. I strongly suspect the only reason its top secret is the fact that the person who told your son has no way of proving the story and has tagged it as top secret to explain away the lack of proof. I doubt that anything would be put in writing and given to staff that were about to lose their jobs if it was top secret!

Sorry but I think this whole thing is a big wind up. I hope I'm right for the benefit of the 'affected' employees as well as my reputation!

As the letter posted from 'kitcub' proves, this is no wind up! I wish it was!

Hi there,

I had to register to comment on this matter, as an existing member of staff in the COMS Store at the moment. As a result of this I would like to state that any comments made, or opinions posted by myself on this thread, or any other thread, are not those of MCFC, but of me as an individual.

I can appreciate the sentiments already expressed on this thread, and also of the OP - this was obviously posted as soon as they'd found out the information on Tuesday afternoon. We were all called to an emergency staff meeting on Tuesday night to be told of a "pending contractual agreement" to outsource all retail business to Kitbag from 19th July 2010.

Attached is a link to the letter itself ->

Although the meeting was largely full of unknowns, because the small print is yet to be worked out. The club are liaising with Kitbag and the workforce through an Employee Focus Group over the coming weeks but as you can imagine, there's a lot of worry around at the moment.

There was talk of a major overhaul and expansion of the mail order/online sales operation - which in my opinion is desperately needed - a store being opened in Abu Dhabi, a possible redevelopment of the COMS store, and the closure of the current Arndale store with the opening of a new 'Flagship' City Centre store as early as September 2010 - Nothing has been postured about location, but I would imagine with the word "flagship" we're looking at perhaps the old Adidas store location on Market Street, or one of the vacant units in the Arndale around by the Apple store... This is great news, if it turns out to be true.

Clearly the move makes economical and logistical sense, and should serve the Club well moving forward, however there are a couple of concerns - one which has already been raised regarding the warehouse, the other where the 68 'casual' staff who work mainly Matchdays currently, but who do a lot of important work covering for full-time and part-time staff when ill or on holiday fit in to the new operation... Especially as all the stock will be sent to the store 'pre-prepared', which is not currently the case. My other concern personally, as someone has already stated on here, is that Kitbag are known to be expensive. Pricing will have to be carefully considered to avoid annoying the really important people, you guys - the fans.

I can see the point of warehouse staff and part-timers perhaps becoming obsolete. But as you state yourself it makes economical and logistical sense to change the current way of doing things.
It´s a change that would have been much worse during the lean years though, now we are in an expanding phase which might soften the impact somewhat.

But I feel that I, as a fan must ask myself what´s best for City in a case like this and as I feel that change was inevitable (and needed) I will not consider it a bad move by City, rather the opposite.
