first things first, we dont give a shit what they or anyone else does, we dont care if our owners do one, we are blues, just blues. we have history of remaining loyal and true to our club whatever division we play in, the scum on the other hand are plastics, they have no proof of how they will react in adversity. no way will the cockney gloryhunters traipse up from landan on virgin trains to watch a team on decline.when the tick and the tocking is over 2 things will happen, chelsea and the arse will swallow up those plastics and manchester united will beg local non blues to restart their fan base, how long that will take for a rude, arrogant, greedy wankstain of a mid table club no one knows.

rag, you're fucking welcome to your detested fucking "global brand"

Spot on Bill

typical rag reply, between you and me though, it does worry me a little that some mega rich f****r from either China or India will buy them to help in their quest for globalisation.

with regards united the OP's mate has got a point. united are here to stay due to there "brand" being so widely known. a good thing that can happen is that the glazers keep control of united, cos that would mean limited funds available.

with regards city, as long as our owners stay interested we'll be fine. we'd need about 20 years of success to be able to self sustain without them i'd reckon.

luckily i think our owners are in it for the long run, and the glazers are stuck with united.

Global brand my arse. They are surviving because thay are successful on the pitch. Once that goes they're fucked. Tick tock tick tock.

"no global fan base"???
the very fact that the sheik has payed into us has opened the door to the middle east, which was an un-tapped market up until now. all new recruits. i know its not what city are supposed to be about, (were a local club for local people, theres no room for you here), and from there we spread outwards. we were already a big name in asia due to sun jihai and then the thaksin takeover opened up even more.
i seem to remember us playing everton a couple of years back and getting one of the most watched sporting events in tv history due to the fact that sun jihai and li tie were on the pitch.
globally we are in the same boat as we are at home, in that we are a developing club. scum fans tend to believe they were successful overnight. (football was invented in 1993) but it took them time to grow into what they are now. We know they are a bigger club and a bigger franchise than we are, we have never disputed that, but as they say, rome wasn't built in a day. its the ushited fans that keep bringing up the "little City" snipes, which are about as pointless as shouting "you don't even own your own ground" every 5 minutes.
in my humble opinion your friend seems to be trying to get a parting shot at "ickle City" before the rags sink into mid-table obscurity.

on another note, i have the "pleasure" of working for 2 scousers. every time we talk football we get into the same old tired routine. they say were not good enough. i say they aren't top 4 material anymore. they say quite epically "you don't even own your own ground". i say your skint, you will have to sell us torres. they say "DONT TALK ABOUT HISTORY, YOU AINT GOT NO HISTORY" this is where i walk away laughing at a dying club.

Why would any investor be interested in them? They already have a global profile so that options for new revenue are seriously limited add that to crippling debt an ageing team and (most of) the rest of the premiership waking up to the fact that they are there for the taking where is the attraction for any potential investor.

Slur alex seems to have lost it, the team would need massive investment and there is not likely to be any new revenue any time soon, not exactly a winning proposition is it? If there was a multil billionaire out there who was a real un*ted fan and not a plastic they may have a chance but they are much more likely to be bought for a knock down price in a fire sale.

There is only so far your name can take you just ask Leeman Brothers.

Tick Tock

There is more to marketing than having shirt shops all over the world, For our owners City is 1 piece of their business empire jigsaw, we will be used and fronted for other parts of their empire, unfortunatly for us that means we have to grow and be successful for our owners to get a full return on their investment, win win situation.

While the Glazers will have to find a very wealthy backer to sell to, are there any out there who would take it on, because as the whole Red package including the debt it doesnt look a very inviting proposition, even for the likes of our guys, The only way I can see something good happening to them is for the Glazers to take a massive hit and put some money towards the debt.

That includes selling cars and scooters under the city brand eventually. The Sheik Mansour has big plans for us really big plans, that go far beyond flogging some shirts in Singapore.

Rags like this one make me laugh. They always assume that everything they've known is going to last forever-as if they are immune and impervious to any kind of global change.

I would remind your rag mate that not so long ago,the British empire "owned" two thirds of the world. Not any more.
Lehmans bank was the oldest bank in America, lending upwards of 7 billion dollars a year. Not any more.

Whenever a rag gets into a dsicussion about football ownership, they always fall back on the same old mantra....

"Someone simply has to buy us.We're too big to fail."

Really?

Who,with the excepetion of Bill Gates or the Sultan of Brunei,or the good Sheik himself-currently has the money to simply write off £800 million of toxic debt?
Before then having to buy the club, find a new manager and then re-equip the playing staff to the tune of probably £2-300 million?

We're looking at a billon quids worth of investment to simply stand still!

That's before you could make one single penny back in profit.

And why buy the rags?Where's the fun in re-building what's already there?

They've already saturated the entire planet with their merchandise, their publicity, their faces, their tv rights-where else on the planet is there left to exploit to make profit? If there was, they'd have surely done it already.

There is only one way I can see to squeeze any more money out of the mug rag punters-and that's through a sole tv/internet rights deal.
But they would surely have no-one to play...there's no way on earth the other PL clubs are going to break away for the benefit of the rags.
It would end up like the SPL with Celtic and Rangers playing each other 8 times a season.Boring as fuck.

So really-it comes down to someone wanting to own the rags for their own private portfolio.
A plaything.

Any takers?

Long may the Glazers reign. They're doing a great job.

Liverpool and Arsenal are bigger global brands and Abramovich knows this and is now refusing to put in the ridiculous amounts of money he once did.

And liverpool have won how many premiership titles........ they are inundated with buyers for a major global brand !!!

Arsenal have won how many trophies recently....i am sure arsenal fans are happy that they have a major global brand to compensate for this

As Rags are such a major global brand why are Glazers still there if losing money ? there most be so many potential (asian) buyers waiting in the wings ( or do they just buy the rag shirt)...... its a bargain at nearly a billion .....look what you get :-

1) ageing/pissed up manager
2) a team reliant on the kids...... shame its the kids from the 90s Giggs, scholes, Chuckle etc
3) totally overated squad of players who rely on a scouser ..rooney
4) another 'has been' scouser to warm the bench
5) a team that has now lost the 'fea factor' not only away but at home

Once you have spent almost a billion... how much does it cost to buy some decent players as Slur Alex has already stated the market is inflated .... he should know he is a great bargain hunter ...only £30million for Barbiflop......

Dont worry !!!

The future is bright....the future is blue !!!!

Isn't the Sheikh the right side of 40? They're gonna be waiting a while for him to meet up with his 72 virgins in the afterlife.

Comparing him to Jack Walker is beyond desperate.
