Went to Borussia M a few years ago at the old ground v Bayern.Didnt manage to get there on last seasons visit due to work.

However,im on this one into Dorf about lunchtime on the day of the game.

From those that went last time is it better to stay there or head into MB for a pre match 4.6 litres of ale?

Must have been a fair few years ago - they left the old one about the same time we left Maine Road!

In my opinion you're better staying in Düsseldorf for a bit. Theres nowt at the ground itself (apart from an Aldi) but it does take a while to get to Mönchengladbach and then out to the ground from there so leave yourself plenty of time.

If you choose to head towards Mönchengladbach, take a left out of the station and walk up the hill (more of a small incline). There's a bit of a square at the top with a few bars there, alternately rather than going to Mönchengladbach Hbf, go to Rheydt and there are a few bars there just out and left of the station. There is a square in Rheydt where City advised there was a fan zone last year, but it was shit so I woudln't recommend the square itself.

It was pretty well a "fan" zone, though occasionally there might have been a few more. Some kids had a kick around with some blues, but the bars nearer to the station were OK. Don't leave it late getting on the buses though, as the (single file) route, and traffic to the stadium were a complete mess, and most of the bus I was on ending up running the last mile or so.

Free busses to the ground from behind Mönchengladbach station. We were in a Gladbach fan pub in the square at the top of the hill, walked down for the bus and got on. It then went up the hill to pick fans up!

After the game, we were marched straight onto the busses and got back into town in no time and went in the Gladbach fan pub near the station (across the road on the right), both sets of fans in there and had a great time.

We stayed in Düsseldorf and were on the beer there until late on. Got the train to Gladbach and some BMG lads, early 20's got on at some stop and took us old piss heads under their wing. Absolutely great lads, spoke better English than us lol. When we got to Gladbach they took us to some street trader selling cans, had a booze on the street and took us to the buses

Monchengladbach is like Stoke, Tumbleweed Town.
Rheydt is about the same, boredom town.
A few spread out bars no atmosphere whatsoever.
Stay in Dusseldorf or Cologne and train it in with free travel match ticket.
