(A)Borussia Mönchengladbach

Ha ha - gotta say that the best exit plan I have witnessed was how the away fans exited Monchengladbach - I know this 'German efficiency brand' is not quite as good as the reputation, but wow.......

Not kept behind in the stadium

Straight onto a fleet of buses that were a 100 yards away - and free of charge

Blue light escort - straight to the train station with police motorcycle outsiders all the way (felt like royalty)

And then trains waiting and ready to go to take us back to Düsseldorf

I choose to think that it was part of an EU charm offensive to make us feel welcome in the EU - mind you I heard some cynics say they just wanted the fuck to get rid of us.

Anyhow - that match has driven most of us to drink - it was a case of first bar we could get to once we left the station.

Now here is poor planning - they ran out of beer on a match night - I thought I could see 'Call me Dave' behind the bar but he had a bit of a rugged bearded look - still I am sure it was him - heard him say something like "...I never expected this to happen........"

Just goes to show ,had you down as a boring old fart ( like me) doing lengthy posts on the EU thread and there you are a young whippersnapper rockin' and rollin' with the boys out in Germany.

Just got back after driving there and back thanks to Eurowings cancelling our flight on Monday evening. Had to do a hasty booking on Eurotunnel on Monday night as we couldn't find any decent alternative flights for the Tuesday, having said all that we had a great time and the Germans certainly enjoy their beer and football, I think they are actually English but don't realise it.

Well you were mostly right - just refusing to give into the age - more plodding between bars than rocking and rolling
 
Great bunch of fans, was drinking with them on the Xmas market and in one of their pubs beforehand really friendly and good eggs
 
Great trip just ashame about some of our younger fans singing war songs on the Tuesday afternoon in the old town. Just no need for it and 1 local really had to be calmed down as he was about ready to blow his top.

Didn't see that!!! Idiots, we met some great local lads in a Brauhaus and they were nothing but brilliant and ended up watching the Dortmund game with them
 
Some of you may know I had a real teddy out the pram spat with Squirty Flower over the way City allocate tickets. this is just to say we ended up in the same pub in Gladbach, had a good natter and decided in the friendliest of ways that we were both right !! The point of my post, perhaps we all get a little heated at times on here and I was stupid enough to let a disagreement spoil my use of this site. Perhaps it's a lesson to most if not all of us. I know in the future before I press send I will have a little think.

Squirty, see you in Portugal/Spain/Germany/ or wherever it is we play the knock out bit and i will buy you a pint.

That was very funny.The younger lads I met later thought it was a bit tight but thats the PC world we live in I suppose.
Tried to find a video of the lad who picked her up singing the song but couldnt find it,know its out there as some German fans were watching it on the train.It was all done in the best possible taste!

Were you with Toby etc ? if so hope I said hello but there were a lot of you. Looking back I dont know how it got so toxic, well I do I was wound up about one violent incident and instead of stepping back and thinking........ hmmmmmm thats the moral of the story I suppose.

so yeh we're good now and it was a great trip.

No i was with @squirtyflower i came in to drag him out as Mrs Squirty was waiting for him for more drinks
