Personally I think that its the interest Mouriniho has shown City that has turned the Sheiks head away from hughes. I also think that in life its easy to pick holes in things when there's a better offer on the table and I'm not to sure if hughes has done himself any favours.

As far as I'm concerned, if Cooke was brokering the deal, he also had to be SURE that Hughes was going in the right direction by chasing after a single target man.
