A call to arms

I think the RSC scenario speaks volume about Hughes's direction-Marwood is pulling the football strings and will have a huge say in Hughes's future.IF Mourinho wants in its a forgon conclusion,if there hasnt been any contact then Hughes will be here next season.Ajay on another thread says 4 transfers are way down the line,i know its not gospel but the more intelligent posters know hes not all piss and wind-someone has made there mind up!

Well, if all the eggs are in the Mourinho basket, I expect us to be royally fooked.

This would be nothing, but similar critique offered out from myself and others, as when Hughes went for one target man in Jan.

The irony would be on scale similar to The Three Stooges...

You talk a lot of sense - the faith thrown at Mourinho like he will create a "Utopia" within City is absolutely laughable.

I don't think Jose will create a "Utopia" but he could well bring in the better quality players that could make it happen sooner rather than later

As i sit here on this fence, splinters a plenty, perhaps some people could be so kind as to answer me a quick question:

"Success should be fast paced, oppourtunities should be ceased, its our duty to demand the best our there. Ok, where do we draw the line? We get rid of every single element we don't claim to be "the best" (based on individual opinion, rather than tangible facts) we get Mourinho, we sign superstars, we get 68,000 + each week and we win the league three years on the trot. Is it still Manchester City?

Before you jump on me, im not asking for mediocrity, i'm not asking for second best, i'd just like our heritage and our identity to be kept in tact... to become a successful club with integrity. To me that would reinforce my belief that Manchester City is indeed a unique and special club, and if that means it takes 5 or 7 seasons instead of 3, then so be it.

GStar, I am of the opinion that I would like to actually see us win something and I don't think by signing the likes of Mourinho who would surely enable us to get superstars that maybe wouldn't come if Hughes is in charge and then getting crowds of 68,000 each week (we would have to expand the stadium) and we win the league three years on the trot (It couldn't happen to us could it?) would destroy what is Manchester City. We know what Manchester City is about and this is what truely matters.

I think Im with most people who would love to have the special one, however most people when thinking of the higher quality players are talking about the likes of kaka, eto etc. This to me would be taking a gamble, imagine having a team of robinhos sure a lot of talent but no backbone. That is why we need the grafters who mark hughes has seemed to be targeting, the likes of Zableta, De Jong, Bellamy. Lets face it the team closest to experiance the amount of wealth and inspiration we have is chelsea and this seemed to work for them. They always say you always build the foundations first, when we start getting frequent european places and start challenging for 5th/4th place that is when we start to add the extra bit of class which will see us challenging the best of the best. So lets face it when we get into that position, mark hughes and so be it the money will be able to attract these top name players so in that sense I cant see the advantage of Mourinho. However I dont feel Mark hughes is a good enough tactician to allow us to be the verry best, so when we feel he has taken us as far as he can like he did with blackburn then we should call it a day and look for that winning edge.

I'm a fence sitter too also collecting splinters

But Man City will always be unique and special to me, but no matter what happens, the club is changing if it takes 3 years or 5-7 we've got owners that want us to be one of the best Clubs in the world and if they manage to pull this off the Club will have changed in a major way.

Whoever the manager is he'll be required to sign up the big name superstars as that what the owner wants ......... we've know that as we've got Robbie and went for Kaka in January.

So have things changed in so much i thought Jose approached us(allegedly) about the job or do we now have to persuade him-Pearce is the ADUG element, how hands on is he Zin?

Morning Zimmerman (Ooh bad head and cotton wool mouth this morning for me !),
Flb makes a good point above and to be honest with my cloudy thoughts today I cant remember which ITK said what, so to clarify, what is your understanding of who approached who with regards Mourinho and is yours info or personal feeling on that particular speculation.

Thats what you get for smoking sput pal..lol.
My original understanding mate was completely different two weeks ago, I was told ADUG were totally behind him and were going to put a statement out to that effect, then it shifted considerably in a matter of days. I know from a personal conversation I had with a pal that ADUG were livid with Cook for the Kaka debacle, and acted quickly to implement a new structure, hence Marwood and Pearces new role, however cook is hugely valued by all accounts. As for jose its conflicting because i've heard two different stories, one being its a done deal already, with jose inviting the approach to which was acted upon by Pearce, and also rogue agents, like the Raul, Buffon etc, who profess to be acting on our behalf having approached him and the ADUG group have become privy to it, though cook and mubarak are concrete in Hughes must stay. Me personally, I think he's walking the mile

so basically you've heard two different stories but they both end up with Jose interested/on his way
