I suppose the advantage of going to a McDonalds but with knives and forks is that there are only 4 or 5 different "meals" to choose from, so you can decide well in advance.
Or you could have the menu at home and tick off what you haven't had thus saving time when you get to the "food" place.
That way you can order as soon as you enter the hostelry, therefore minimising the amount of time you have to spend listening to the "olds" before your food arrives.
