A decade of unbelievable consistency

We have been exceptional and have reached untold consistency, this much is true and I think all mature, sensible commentators and rival fans that aren't blinded by hatred see this.

However, I disagree entirely about us being so far ahead of Liverpool. This is just not true, they've come within one point of the title against us twice, pipped us to it once, and have won the one major honour that still eludes us within that timeframe, with a high possibility they lift that honour again tomorrow night. There is assuredly a "Big Two" within English football at this time. Personally I enjoy it, it's healthy competition and as Pep has stated on numerous occasions, cultures a near-perfect standard within our team.
When did Liverpool come ‘to within one point of taking the title’ from City?

They have twice come within one point of City but with inferior goal difference. So two points more would have been needed not one.

Our rivalry with them is similar to the Arsenal Rags rivalry of the late 90s early 00s - Arsenal had their moments but sickeningly for blues everyone knew who the number one team was just as everyone knows that it’s City now.

“The margins have been as fine as tracing paper”

17/18 +25pts
20/21 +15pts.

Why do you arbitrarily compare the teams with stats that suit the dippers. You seem to have bought in to all the press hype “two great teams just one point between them in 3 seasons” which of course conveniently ignores the seasons which tip the balance considerably in our favour.

You might discount the League Cup but the 40k / 50k crowds we get for home ties and the 30 odd thousand who travel to Wembley don’t discount it nor do the club and Pep who more often than not fields very strong teams.

All that said however, a sensible starting point for any comparison would be Klopp's arrival, since when, in the only competition that really counts, we’ve got the better of them 6 times out of 7.

So for me very much a Big 1
My overriding point was that I believe there is currently a Big Two in English football in the here and now; in the present day. If we go back throughout the years then that dynamic looks different. But as of right now City and Liverpool are comfortably ahead of everyone else. I believe we're better, and I reckon most neutrals would agree; but it's fanciful to suggest we're "so far ahead". That's all I was saying.

Unbelievable 10 years since being crowd champions

this song should be the new club anthem

Consecutive seasons in the Champions League

Manchester City - 12
Liverpool - 6
Chelsea - 4
Every other club in the country - N/A
It's an impressive statistic...but it's about time we won it, praying we break the curse this coming season.

When we were taken over in 2008 it had been pretty much the same top 4 for a couple of decades. In 2008 the gap from 4th to 5th was 11 points and there was a further 10 points to us. Since winning the league in 2012 our league positions have been

1
2
1
2
4
3
1
1
2
1
1

Scoring this 1 for first, 2 for second etc that’s 19 over 11 seasons. Over the same period the rags score 44, Chelsea 43, dippers 47, spurs 49, arsenal 53 - the nearest is more than double ours. Given how much all teams change over a decade, our consistency is phenomenal and an absolute testament to how well our club is run, how good the recruitment is, and how we manage to evolve unbelievably well. All those teams have spent a lot of money over the decade, but none of them come close to us. It is weird how little credit we get for this.

Perhaps a more illustrative way to score would to give 20 points to 1st and 1 point to 20th.

Then we'd have :
