A few personal observations on the food and drink options taken during my 1st visit to the Etihad (Brugge)

I worked in Hollands once (Wigan??)
Can't remember the location exactly but we left with a tray of hot, freshly baked pies. Wonderful.
I lived in Accrington for a while a good few years back while working in Hyde. Used to drive past Hollands on my way to wodk and home. Didn't smell great at all ......

There’s not a decent pint of Guinness to be had in Manchester, let alone the stadium.

Take that from a Dubliner ;-)
Haha meant relative to the Asahi.though the Edinburgh Castle and Mulligans are drinkable(for a Mancunian)

My Daughter has lived in Scotland for Quite a few years now, and when she comes home to visit and we say shall we have Chippy for tea she says to the grandkids do you want Fish Supper or Sausage supper and i always say to them there's no such thing in Manchester
Correct, that's always the way in Scotland.

By the way, it's not tea, either. It's dinner.

What decent bars is there in northern quarter before the game. With city fans in them. Been around there at night time. But not before the game

Only posh people have supper - it’s not something the working class do. Unless of course a bowl of cornflakes counts.

Spoke to someone in the know a few years ago and the amount of lager that Mary D’s shifts on a match day is insane, although premium lager wasn’t referenced in the conversation.

Because of the episodic nature of the trade there I expect the beer will sometimes be sat in the lines for days. Wouldn’t be amazed if the line cleaning at Mary D’s was infrequent.

Think it’s generally best to stick to the cooking lager in a venue like that.
Cooking lager, excellent.
I’m gonna start using that. That must be the stuff I use every Flaming June for my lager top with ice.

Many, many moons ago, I had a weekend pocket money job peeling spuds in a chippy on the Chester Road. Got a little cash and a free meal. I always chose Hollands M&P pie.
When I left Manchester for the South West, non of the local chippies sold Hollands pies but I did spot some frozen packets in Tesco. I stuffed the freezer with them and enjoyed them as a snack.
Sadly my local Tesco stopped selling them last year.

If you freeze Hollands meat pies and then pack them in an insulated bag, they will still be frozen when you get to my house in Canada 12 hrs later.
Just saying.

Loads if you start at the Waldorf or Crown & Anchor on Hilton St and head NW through Stevenson Sq towards Shudehill you have the Milstone, Wheatsheaf, Turks Head etc or if a nice hot day around the New Islington Marina & cutting room square.
Not a bad crawl if you good for 15 or so pints.

I got half way through this thread thinking what a fun parody it was and how all the other posters had really dry humour and then it dawned on me that it’s probably not a wind up.
