A life without tomatoes

Ours have grown nicely, but struggling to get them to ripen at present, watered regularly and in good shape, plenty of sunshine (for round here) but not turning red.
Seem to read quite a bit that they need around 2 weeks of constant sunshine to ripen, so, any tips mate ?
They were green & starting to weigh down the plants as my grow bags wouldn't support the caines so I took the bigger ones and a few small ones off.

Been inside the house for about 10 days sat in the light next to the patio doors and are turning red as time passes.

Clean them off...sit in a warm place which gets sunlight...I've not fucked about with all this ripe banana, apple or brown paper stuff.

I have a few that have gone red outside but look like some beasties have had a go at them.

Lemon, tamarind, coconut can all do what the tomato does to some degree. If you consider that tomatoes were native to the Americas and have only been around for a few hundred years globally then most cultures never used them til recently... They would have had alternatives
The palm tree in my yard hasn't yielded coconuts for many a year....

They're probably the base (or at least a big constituent part) of about 3/4 of what I eat, in some form or another. Removing tomatoes would be a huge change to my diet.

Cheers bud, I did mention about picking them and taking them inside as quite a few of the big ones aren’t really getting much sunlight as they’re on the inside, so basically being covered by the leaves etc, I’ll give it a try anyway, cheers bud.

Stephen Gerrard was advised to give up tomatoes when he was getting numerous hamstring strains.

When you buy your growbags, carefully fold then in half and shake the soil into the individual halves, then cut the bag in half and roll down the plastic to effectively form a tub. 1-half bag will easily support a tomato plant for a growing season.

My first year of having a garden area to grow...I've already realised that a flat grow bag isn't the way forward...I'll be making changes to technique next year.

Thinking of using tubs in 2024.

Cut away the lower leaves to let the sun at them.
