A life without tomatoes

Raw tomatoes are hideous. Sandwich ruiners, sometimes making the bread soggy and their juice and jelly soaking everything. It's vile.

They ruin salads.

They make full English breakfasts disappointing and are always removed straight away if they appear on my plate. Even worse when it's that mushed up version.

Tomato sauce is acceptable but I very rarely have it on anything and if I do, I'll do it myself so my food isn't drenched in it.

Tomato soup can be ok.

Tomato puree is acceptable when on pizza etc as long as it's not too much or overpowering anything else.

Beef tomatoes can fuck off too.

The horrible bastards that have tinned tomatoes on toast. Fuckin disgusting.

Biting into a tomato is awful too. Nothing pleasant about it and those horrible little cherry tomatoes can get fucked too.

As you can see, I pretty much despise tomatoes. No no no.

Love them in a pasta salad and most organic pasta sauces obviously contain them so for me they're excellent. I just don't have much luck growing them. For all the foliage very little return

During my days as a civil engineering student many years ago we were taken on a field trip to the local sewage treatment works (exciting I know)
on the site there were stacks of enormous tomato plants growing wild everywhere - the explanation from the plant engineer was that tomato seeds are one of the things that the human body cant breakdown so the seed remain in the human poo sediment and then were dispersed on the wind and allowed to grow wild on the site feeding off the effluent.

ok interesting I thought (not) until on the way out I saw a couple of local stalls at the entrance gate flogging these 'organic' tomatoes - told my kids about these tomatoes that had already passed through someone's body and then grown in human shit

To this day both of them refuse point blank to eat tomatoes

Many sewage works are are a good source of tomatoes and wetwipes. Don’t mix them up.

Love them but increasingly they are going straight through me which isn’t pleasant at all.

No idea why but I fear I’m suddenly becoming intolerant to them.

I'm not keen on spicy food and don't tend to eat much pasta based dishes either because I eat keto / low carb.

Sometimes you can't get away from foods/meals with tomatoes in, but it's mixed/mushed in with everything so not as vile. It's the tomatoes alone that I have the biggest issues with, like on sandwiches, breakfasts etc. Grim haha.
