Best player I have ever seen in a City shirt, I don't care that he only had a cameo in the EPL, well done Keegan!!! (and yes I know he signed him in the first place), Ali was/is a football genius for me.

I remember his first match when he took Birmingham apart and their manager (was it Steve Bruce?) said something about he wished City had signed him a week later. Best goal i saw him score was against Aston Villa in the prem one Boxing Day. Five minutes to go, City 2-1 up, he passed out to the wing, ran to meet the cross, and put a diving header into the net. Then he jumped into the crowd at the Platt Lane end and got mobbed.

the guy was a magician...i remember the chant "ali ali ali ali" at hillsborough as he pulled the strings in our 6-2 romp there...his sidekick berkovic did the business as well,what a midfield pairing...

I absolutely loved that Keegan side in Division 1. It was probably the most enjoyable City season i've ever experienced. Truely stunning football. Berkovic and Benarbia in midfield, Kevin Horlock holding, Niclas Jensen and SWP as wing backs with any 2 from Goater, Wanchope and Huckerby upfront in a 3-5-2. It was a great side at that level. One of the best that league has ever seen. Remember that Berkovic goal when he ran the full length of the pitch v Norwich, after Tiatto had got sent off? That Wanchope goal that went in off the post from about 30 yards (was it v Preston? Can't quite remember)? Remember absolutely dicking Burnley when they were up near the top challenging us? What a team that was.
