A mention for Navas

I have seen topics for nearly every City player on the Derby performance and quite rightly so.

However, I would also like to give a 'shout out' to Navas who had a great game and scared the hell out of the United defenders particularly in that first 20 minutes or so.

Thought he lacked a bit of confidence last night. There were a few occasions in the 2nd half where he had plenty of space to run in to but checked back and played square. I'd like him to be more like Bale and just charge at people - he's good enough and quick enough.

Agreed. Brilliant performance last night from the Spaniard. They couldn't handle him. Always gives his all.

Totally agree.

Absolutely this. You can probably count the amount of players in the league on one hand who can keep up with him at full chat. I know he's Spanish, but sometimes there's nothing wrong with a bit of punt and run, especially when you're a) That fast, and b) can put in a cross as accurately as he can.

Another thing worth highlighting though, is whether he burns people or not, his mere inclusion forces the opposition fullback to be weary. No-one wants to give Navas half a pitch to run into, which frees up space elsewhere.

Yes, but also at times it was imo correct decision to play down the tempo a bit and keep the ball. But he deffo could do what you guys have suggested and at a right time he should try it more often.

Great game from him yesterday. Well done Jesus!

Those Bale style runs invariably result in a loss of possession. Navas is smarter than that. He isn't going to run blindly if there is no outlet for his final ball. When there is, he generally puts it on a plate.

Spot on.
