Can you give me some facts on united exploiting the crash to make money, besides the travesty that was last years logo fiasco.

The families didn't recieve a penny of the insurance money i was told, and did United not sell commemorative things on the 50th anniversary last year? I think you'll find they did, or you lot did.

Im not getting drawn into the ins and outs of this, as a blue also died that day, but that seems to be forgotten about and its always poor old manyoo.

Its not poor old manyoo. It should be about the families that lost loved one's that day, not about that shit club!

It should be about the faimiles but also about the clubs (city included), united lost a great team that day and the families lost sons and dads, city lost a great player. I can see your argument but doesn't mean I agree with it.
City fans I have spoken to about this see it as a united disaster and the majority love to mock it, although it tends to be the younger generation.
The older blues I know are genuinely top blokes, great stories and talk about football the way it should be.

I totally agree, but why didn't those families recieve anything from United? That, in my opinion absolutely stinks, and while you say the, "majority" of City fans mock it, which i disagree with, maybe if United had morale's back then, then the club would be shown more respect by your neighbours.

City are always made out to be the bad boys when it comes to this sort of thing, a more recent example being the Tevez poster but, United aren't so squeeky clean either, they just get away with it. 33 years banner, Hillsborough songs etc.

A bit hypocritical, but i dont agree with City fans singing these song, thats the bottom line.

How about

The Rags exploited M****h for, money, money,
The Rags exploited M****h for, money, money,
For 50 years its caused a rift
We'll never forget the great Frank Swift,
M****h air crash, a respectful song is this.

This is not meant to be harsh and not meant to be provocative. Just trying to put a song together as the OP suggested.

ssg2, I'm not having a go mate, but this is your chance to tell us what MUFC has done for those affected by that terrible night. It may go along way in helping City fans see United in a different light?

You see the things we've heard are quite poor, things like surviving players being kicked out of their united homes....If this is true you can see why some City fans look at MU with disdain. I'm not having a go, but would appreicate your knowledge on the monies (amount ish) and help United have sent to the families that were affected.

Come on mate put us right :)

City are not the bad boys and neither are united.
The 33 years banner and Tevez poster are a bit of banter, singing songs about football disasters is just plain wrong, regardless of the team/fans.
At the end of the day we are all the same, we just follow different teams.
I could spend all day coming up with negatives about city but could also probably do the same with the positives, deep down if we take our red/blue tinted specs off we could do the same with every club side in the country.

Banter for me is what football is about, arguing with people in the pub about different opinions, some like other players more than others, its what makes football so special.

Nothing about the Hillsborough songs then?

The problem is that no one knows, its all hear say and rumours (as you've said its things you've heard). United could have been great, they could also have been bastards.
My opinion is the club didn't do enough for the families but on the other hand I don't think they have milked it for money either.

If they haven't milked it for money, then why all the comemerative items on sale last year then, and why not give a percentage of profits to the families that suffered? Im not having a go at you, but if there was ever a chance to put something right, United had the opportunity and they blew it.

Re: A Mu**ch song for everyone

I'd rather we didn't sing about it at all, to be honest. If their fans sang songs about, say, Marco Foe, we'd understandably be quite annoyed.

Most of their supporters are clowns, goes without saying, as is their manager, and a fair number of their squad, sing about them, sure, but let's not lower ourselves to speaking ill of the dead, or even the club's swelling support afterwards. For me, the disaster is something that any Mancunian should have sympathy for, red or blue, and anyone who was around at the time will tell you that it effected everybody in the city.

I'm not taking the moral high ground here, when i was younger i occasionally sang some of the M*nich songs myself, but i think it looks bad on the club, especially when you see young kids singing them. I'd like to see us cut it out.

Re: A Mu**ch song for everyone

This is the most retarded thing I've ever seen on Bluemoon - even worse than Petrov at left back.

It was an air crash. Where 23 people died. That one of them was Frank Swift is, frankly, irrelevant: it was a human tragedy. The fact that thousands of City fans see fit to celebrate this disaster is for me the most upsetting and distressing aspect of being a City fan. I hate those songs.

Some City fans use the defence that 'United fans sing about Hillsborough', but this obscures the fact that Mun1ch songs are more widespread among City fans than equivalent songs are among any other set of supporters in the country, with the possible exception of LUFC.

So to try to come up with a 'Mu**ch song for everyone' is just preposterous. (Even the charge that MUFC 'exploited' Mun1ch is, I think, unfair. Once Busby rebuilt the side and took them to glory it was always going to be part of the club's narrative, and rightly so.) Those that sing about it do so because they like celebrating the deaths of United players - there can be no middle ground between us and them. To suggest that we can find a 'compromise' Mun1ch song is an insult to those fans that hate those songs so much. What next - a Diana joke that you wouldn't mind sharing with Prince Harry?

Life bans for Mun1ch singers.
