A Munich song for everyone

Re: A Mu**ch song for everyone

They had the 50th anniversary and played every City team available that week hoping there would be a mishap, there wasn't and we walked away with our pride intact. Move on and stopping worrying about a few City fans in Barnsley singing about the Scum and thinking they'll be upset when they can't even hear it.

Its hardly a "sympathy" card every 10 years is it? It was a major disaster for the football club and should be remembered, every disaster usually has a special remembrance service every 10 years, its not a "united" thing.

I've always thought the anniversary has been very low key until last year and tbf it was 50 years on so should have been remembered the way it was (without the fucking logo though!).
City did get a lo of grief leading up to the game but as most have openly admitted on here the singing of certain songs happens so I expected the worst! However, the fans were impeccible and I for one made sure the city fans were applauded.

Very sensible.Always have the high moral ground and keep your dignity and you can at least hold your high.If other peoples standards are below yours then thats their problem.

No it wouldn't work, in a nutshell.

Posting songs and ideas on a forum are a waste of time as they don't get sung, so no matter how many people put "Good idea" on this thread, nothing will ever happen.

So the idea is dead in the water before we start. And the "expoitation of Mu**ch" thing is bullshit, that's not why people sing/say it.

I heard the Tevez 'you made us change the words' chant at Barnsley.

Re: A Mu**ch song for everyone

The songs which catch on and get sung properly are always made up by bunches of lads on a coach, then loads of Blue in a pub, then to an away match. That's what happened with the Istanbul song and the Hey Thaksin songs recently.

I suppose it could happen to a song on a forum, I suppose, but I really can't see this one takign off.

Nice sentiments though, I don't mean to be disrespectful to the original poster or overly negative.

Re: A Mu**ch song for everyone

Time for our club to do something about the sickening chants now. It's been too long, our reputation is tarnished and half our songs are ruined by the word.

Re: A Mu**ch song for everyone

Weird. I've seen a lot of comments in relation to this, containing the phrase. "It's just part of our history" or similar.

No it's bloody not. The tragic crash was part of our history, but the songs are just another part of thuggery in football, so don't insult my team by implying it's part of the history of M City. And just because it happens around the country or at Eastlands, does not justify it, it just perpetuates it. This is not about being "PC", it's about common decency.

Shame that a lot of people seem to understand this as "history of the club", when so many were totally effin' bewildered by why the Denis Law goal was so important in a previous thread on this forum, and that really was part of the history of city!

Then again, there has always been a divide in fans, those that support city, and those that spend way too much time thinking about how much they dislike united. Suprised they find time to come to matches.

Re: A Mu**ch song for everyone

I've never enjoyed the Munich songs, and I never will. I have always stayed silent when they have been sung, and I always will.

It's so long ago, most fans don't even remember it. I don't remember it as I was 9 months old at the time.

Maybe some twisted soul can find a link between United and The Titanic sinking, and invent a song about it.

Yeah, lets have a laugh at Titanic going down, Titanic going down, Titanic going down.

Singing songs about Munich is, for me, a particularly unsavoury aspect of being a City fan. We can, and should, have some banter, we all enjoy it after all, but revelling in death is too much.

I think that united are about to face to pretty bleak years ahead. I'm sure they'll be lots to sing about ;-)
