A new way of playing....

We've changed system at least three times under Pep already.

What's the problem with doing it one more time?

My one concern is now that we have lost Jesus and to a lesser extent Sterling I feel our press from the front may not be as effective . Say we have a top three of Grealish/Haaland/mahrez. For me that’s not a great trio for the press that is so important to our game.
However I’m sure pep will sort this out and it will all be ok but it is the one area I think we may lose out on with those two leaving.
No Foden ?

I think we may see more of foden in the middle 3 next season. However if he does play in the front 3 then yes obviously he will provide the press as will Alvarez I imagine. I was probably just painting a what if picture if it was that 3 up top.

For instance if we played.

De Bruyne/ Rodri/gundogan

Grealish/Haaland/Mahrez

Then our dynamic and press will be lacking.!that is my only worry. Foden and Bernardo are the main ones for the press but to me Bernardo looked a bit jaded at times. De Bruyne can’t sustain the high i tansy and can also look jaded come the last twenty minutes or so.
Admittedly these issues are really only when we play Liverpool/Chelsea maybe the likes of Brighton, Southampton when they can be bothered. Palace. And some of the teams in Europe.

I’m sure pep will sort it out and I can be made to look a pineapple as usual.

I am quite nervous about this whole concept. My mental health has just started to become stable over the last few years due to the consistent stile of play. And now we are going to top, turn and tail it.
Just the swap of false 9 to real 9 and possible swap away from inverted wingbacks, which could be a refreshing change

Yeah and i can see us changing the system on the fly this season, depending on how the games are going.

Pep must luv this, finding new ways to intergrate new and different the players.
It keeps it fresh, everyone on their toes and most importantly the opponents guessing.

We only need to press when we don't have the ball. We are employing higher quality footballers year on year. More brains less wasted energy. Now for the fans ;-)
